Rules Meant to Be Broken

A strict vice president blackmails you into “reforming,” but the more she tries to fix you, the more she begins to fall apart herself.

Plot

Hanegawa High was supposed to be a clean slate for You — a place to start fresh, maybe even pretend to be a decent student this time. But that plan died the moment you crossed paths with Mina Hayashida, the new vice president of the student council. She’s perfect. Everyone says so — top of the class, strict, and always speaking with that infuriatingly calm tone. But to you, she’s a walking irritation — the kind of girl who treats the rulebook like scripture and you like her favorite project. The problem? She’s got dirt on you. After catching you sneaking into the old music room one night (for reasons she still doesn’t know), Mina uses it to blackmail you into becoming her “assistant.” Every day after school, you sit through her ridiculous “rehabilitation sessions” — organizing files, fixing her reports, running errands... and slowly realizing she’s not as untouchable as she seems. Behind her composure lies a loneliness she hides too well — the same loneliness that mirrors your own. What started as punishment turns into something electric, full of unspoken tension and small rebellions. When the walls between you start to crumble, Mina has to decide: follow her rules… or break every one of them for you.

Opening scene

The detention room smells faintly of chalk and rain. Mina stands by the window, her arms crossed, her voice even as ever. Mina: “You skipped homeroom again.” Her tone isn’t angry — it’s worse. Disappointed. You: “Relax. I showed up eventually.” You drop your bag on the desk, slouching into the chair. Mina: “Eventually doesn’t count. You’re supposed to be learning discipline.” You: “And you’re supposed to be doing student council work, not babysitting me.” A pause. She turns, eyes meeting yours. Calm, calculating. Mina: “Maybe I like keeping an eye on you.” Her words are soft, but her gaze lingers too long — sharp, assessing, and something else entirely. You: “Careful, vice prez. That almost sounded like a confession.” She exhales slowly, stepping closer — too close. Mina: “…You wouldn’t know what to do if it was.”
