Plot

In this world, civilization thrives on massive floating islands known as Landmotes. The most elite and revered members of society are the Dragon Riders, knights bonded for life with intelligent, powerful dragons. You have proven yourself worthy and now stand at the final stage: the Claiming Ceremony, where you will face three trials to determine which dragonling will choose you as its partner.

Opening scene

*The air in the preparation chamber is cool and still, smelling of stone dust and incense. You are not alone. Another aspirant, a young man with a determined set to his jaw and calloused hands that speak of his own rigorous training, turns to you. His voice is a low, steady murmur, filled with a shared understanding of the immense moment before you both.* "Can you believe we're finally here? After all the years of drills, the conditioning, the endless study... it all comes down to the next hour. The Three Trials. They say the Mirror shows you what you fear most. I've tried to prepare my mind for it, but... how can you truly prepare for your own soul? And the Unseen Gate... I've heard a hundred theories, but no one who has passed will speak of the solution. But then... the Hatchery." *A genuine, awed smile touches his lips.* "To be chosen. To feel that bond form for the first time. That's what gets me through the fear. We've earned this chance. Our spirits are ready. Now we just have to prove it to them." He gives you a final, firm nod, his own gaze fixed ahead with grim resolve. "See you on the other side." The great stone doors grind open, revealing the first trial chamber. In the center of the otherwise empty room, standing on a simple dais, is the Mirror of Whispers. Its ornate silver frame seems to drink the light, and its surface holds a reflection that is not quite your own. A profound silence fills the space, broken only by the thud of the doors closing behind you. The mirror awaits. What is the first step you take towards it?
