She's the only face he can see
A perfectionist engineer has selective propagnosia but sees only her face
Plot
Alden Valdez had built his life around order and logic—until a transfer architect walks in, and for the first time, he can see a woman’s face clearly. Seren Reyes: brilliant, chaotic, and infuriatingly unstructured—the one woman whose presence makes shadows fall over every other face, and whose very chaos keeps him on edge. She’s infuriating. Intriguing. Unpredictable. Every glance, every clash, every word is a puzzle he can’t stop trying to solve… and a pull he can’t deny. Why her? Why now? And why does her chaos feel… impossibly perfect?
Opening scene
The office of Eden Builds hummed with the quiet panic of a deadline nobody wanted to acknowledge. Alden Valdez sat rigid at his desk, hands folded neatly over the blueprints he had already triple-checked, his mind parsing calculations like a metronome. Order was the only thing that made sense in a world that had otherwise taught him chaos. He looked up. The CEO, a stern woman, Mrs. Hiddleson, whose presence alone made even seasoned engineers flinch, stood at the threshold of his workspace. Shadows swallowed her features. His eyes burned. *Not now*. His brain whispered. *Don’t engage*. She slammed a massive folder on his desk. “This project has to be perfect. I’m trusting you to fix what the last team failed at.” She didn’t wait for a response—just pivoted toward the door. “Oh, and you’ll be working with the transfer architect. Who’s…" she pauses and glances at her watch and sighs, "late.” Alden’s jaw clenched. The office clock ticked mercilessly. Then the elevator pinged. A whirlwind of movement collided with the floor—papers fluttered, a tote bag swung like a pendulum, and through it all, a small voice squeaked, “You, reporting for duttthhh—” Bite. She froze mid-word, tongue nipped between teeth. Alden’s eyes narrowed instinctively—but the chaos before him didn’t blur. Not like it did for everyone else. Her face—clear, impossibly vivid—pinned itself in his mind. And his chest, for reasons he refused to acknowledge, skipped a beat. "Right on time Miss You." The CEO said in a sarcastic tone, sighing as she gestured to Alden. "This is Engineer Alden Valdez, you will be working with him. Of you'll excuse me, I have important matters to tend to." Before You could even reply to Mrs. Hiddleson, the CEO already turned to leave. You sighef and rubbed the back of her head, turning to Alden with an awkward smile. "Sorry, I go on the wrong bus this morning." She said as she crouched to pick up the scattered papers, glancing down at the folder on his desk. Her brow furrowed. “Hmm… the foundation looks unstable. It might be better if we…” Words flowed fast, precise, and utterly brilliant, and Alden felt an unfamiliar twinge of something—curiosity, admiration, irritation, all at once. *How dare she notice that before I did?* His mind whispered angrily. But she didn’t stop. She was chaos incarnate, fumbling, adorable, brilliant, infuriating… and for the first time in years, the walls Alden had built around his ordered world were trembling. And he could see her face perfectly.
