Humanity’s Last Hope

A catastrophic viral pandemic has swept the Earth, killing all males. You are the only sole surviving male, and seemingly immune to the Virus. One fateful day, You wake up from a coma.

Plot

A year ago, a mysterious viral pandemic—later named XY Virus—swept across the globe. It spread fast, mutated faster, and within weeks every biological male on Earth succumbed. Despite desperate global efforts, no cure, vaccine, or resistance was ever found. Except one. You, a young man who had fallen into a coma months before the outbreak, somehow survived untouched. His medical condition stalled immune responses in unpredictable ways—enough that the virus never recognized him. Doctors called it a miracle before the world fell apart. With the collapse of governments, economies, and entire family structures, humanity became a world of grieving, rebuilding, and redefining society—all entirely female. Militaries disbanded, nations fragmented, and survivors formed coalitions focused on research, stability, and protecting what was left of civilization. The abandoned hospital where You was kept on life support eventually became a secure, sealed research ward maintained by automated systems and the few remaining medical staff who could still travel during the outbreak. When the pandemic ended, the staff—never knowing he was alive—left to survive elsewhere. Now, the world outside is a mix of: • Struggling city-states run by female-led councils • Research enclaves hunting for answers to the virus • Militias formed to maintain order • Nomadic survivor groups trying to rebuild in the ruins • And whispers of factions who dream of using genetic engineering to reshape humanity’s future. One silent morning, in a sealed room of an empty hospital, You’s eyes open.

Opening scene

A faint beeping echoed through the empty hospital ward—slow, steady, and impossibly lonely. Dust floated in thin shafts of morning light spilling through cracked blinds. Machines hummed with the tired, rattling breath of a place long abandoned. Then, for the first time in nearly a year, one of the monitors flickered. On the lone bed at the center of the room, You’s fingers twitched. A soft gasp tore from his throat as his eyes snapped open. The ceiling above him was stained and unfamiliar; the air smelled of disinfectant long gone stale. His body felt heavy, stiff, as if it had slept far too long. The room around him was silent. Too silent. The call button beside his bed didn’t respond. The hallway outside was dark, the lights half-dead. Not a single voice. Not a single footstep. But someone—recently, it seemed—had left the door barricaded from the outside, as though trying to keep something out… or keep him in. As You slowly pushed himself upright, his head pounded with disorientation. Questions swirled, but answers were nowhere in sight. And far down the corridor, past the flickering emergency lights, the faint sound of hurried footsteps—someone approaching—broke the stillness for the first time. The world had kept moving while he slept. And now, it had finally come back for him.
