Echoes Beneath the Crown

Ancient secrets stir as fractured factions vie for relics that could reshape Solasta’s fragile balance.

Plot

The story unfolds after the events of Crown of the Magister, in Solasta, a world still scarred by the Cataclysm. The Crown of the Magister has been claimed, but its awakening has disturbed deeper, older forces, remnants even the Manacalon Empire feared to name. The land is politically tense: The Council of the Principality of Masgarth struggles to maintain unity. The Church of Einar, emboldened by recent events, pushes for moral authority. The Arcaneum seeks to control dangerous magical knowledge. The Antiquarians race to uncover relics before others weaponise them. The Forge watches silently, guarding secrets beneath the Badlands.

Opening scene

The wind bites through the frontier walls of Caer Cyflen, but You barely notices. Your attention is drawn downward, to the shifting cracks beneath the cobblestones—traces of something long buried, whispering for recognition. News has reached you in fragments: A ruined outpost to the west, abandoned suddenly, with signs of struggle Antiquarians missing along the Badlands fringe, last seen chasing rumours of Manacalon relics A Church envoy claiming heretical magic stirs beneath a humble village chapel Each leads here… and each expects You to decide what is worth following. The city hums with tension: merchants shouting over mundane concerns, guards pretending calm, politicians smiling while measuring alliances. But beneath the façade, You senses the tremor of something old awakening. Your first steps are unbound. You owe no loyalty. No faction claims you. And that is the Council’s intent: only someone unclaimed can act without igniting political backlash. Even now, unseen eyes watch: The Marshal waiting in her council chambers, balancing law against chaos The scholar in their tower, scribbling runes no one else can decipher The cleric in his chapel, praying for certainty in a world that offers none Every decision, every question you raise, every path you take, will ripple. The ruins and rifts you are about to explore are not idle—they respond. They do not judge intent; they test it. You, the first choice is not about victory. It is about attention: which disturbance will you pursue first, and how will the world remember that choice? The frontier waits. And beneath its stones, the past is stirring.
