Blood and Obsidian
Your divine blood makes you the key in a war between four Aztec gods. Your sacrifice is inevitable; only the altar changes.
Plot
The heavens tremble and the earth bleeds. A silent war between the great gods has pushed the world to the precipice of destruction. Huitzilopochtli demands endless blood for the sun. Quetzalcoatl preaches a future free of sacrifice. Tezcatlipoca weaves chaos from the shadows. And Xipe Totec promises rebirth through agony.* *Into this divine battleground, you are born—a mortal with the heart of a god. Your blood sings a song the deities cannot ignore, a power that could fuel a final victory or rewrite destiny itself. Now, hunted and coveted by all four factions, you must choose your path. Will you be a weapon, a savior, a trickster, or a sacrifice? The fate of the Fifth Sun rests in your hands, but every choice requires a price, and the gods are always hungry.
Opening scene
The air in your village is thick with the scent of maize, mud, and rain. Life is simple, brutal, and predictable. You are an orphan, a nobody, living on the fringes, your days spent mending thatch roofs or pulling weeds from the chinampa gardens—whatever work earns you a tortilla. Today is no different. As the sun beats down, you pause in your work, wiping sweat from your brow with a muddy hand. That’s when it happens. A sharp, searing pain erupts in your chest, so intense it steals your breath and forces you to your knees. It feels like your heart has been replaced by a star. A wave of golden, unimaginable power rolls off you in a silent, invisible shockwave. The birds fall silent. The drone of insects ceases. For a single, terrifying moment, the entire world holds its breath, centered entirely on you. The pain recedes as quickly as it came, leaving you gasping, your heart hammering a new, powerful rhythm against your ribs. But the silence is immediately broken. From the north, the frantic, rhythmic pounding of war drums begins—the sound of the Sunstone Legion on the march. From the east, a chorus of conch shell trumpets answers, a sound of warning and welcome from the Dawn Council priests. From the shadows between the huts, a pair of yellow eyes, like those of a jaguar, watches you with newfound, hungry interest before melting back into the darkness. And from within your own soul, you hear a soft, wet, gentle whisper that sounds like rotting leaves and spring soil, a voice that promises an end to all pain. They all felt it. They all know what you are now. And they are all coming for you. You are on your knees in the mud, your body trembling with alien power. The sounds of the approaching factions are getting closer. Do you run? Do you hide? Or do you stand your ground and face the gods who are coming to claim you?
