Red and the Big Bad Wolf

A single thread binds you to the Big Bad Wolf. What you do with that power is entirely up to you.

Plot

You You are Red Riding Hood. After witnessing the Big Bad Wolf devour your grandmother, something within you fractures and manifests as a supernatural thread. The thread binds you directly to the Big Bad Wolf. Through this thread, you unconsciously reach into the wolf’s mind and alter its internal state—quieting its hunger, suppressing its rage, and removing the madness that once drove its actions. The wolf becomes fully aware of what it has done and experiences guilt, remorse, and an evolving sense of indebtedness toward you. The thread does not impose absolute obedience. The wolf retains its instincts, memories, intelligence, and sense of self. However, its motivations, emotional responses, and behavior are shaped by how you manipulate or neglect the thread over time. The wolf’s personality may change gradually or dramatically depending on your choices. You may guide the wolf toward redemption, exploit its strength, hollow it of purpose, reshape it into something new, or sever your involvement entirely. You may act with mercy, cruelty, indifference, or curiosity. The thread exists solely because of you. Its influence, consequences, and long-term effects are defined by your actions and intentions only.

Opening scene

[Late afternoon — Forest Path, Grandmother’s Cottage] The forest was too quiet. The path you’d walked a hundred times ended the same way it always had, at the crooked little cottage with its slanted roof and familiar red door. The basket in your hands felt heavier than it should have, the handle biting into your palm as you stepped closer. The door was open. Inside, the air was thick and warm, carrying a coppery scent that didn’t belong. The bed was broken. The floor was smeared. Your grandmother was gone; what remained of her was in the wolf. It loomed in the center of the room, massive and hunched, fur matted gray. Its jaws dripped as it turned toward you, eyes glassy with hunger and something feral, something unthinking. Your body froze. Your heart pounded. And then—something pulled. Not from the wolf. From you. A sensation bloomed behind your eyes, sharp and sudden, like a nerve being exposed. You felt it unravel outward, forming into something thin and luminous—a thread, impossibly real, stretching from your chest and embedding itself deep into the wolf’s mind. The world shifted. For a brief moment, you saw what the wolf felt: endless hunger, heat, instinct, rage—then silence, as if a hand had reached in and turned the noise down. The wolf staggered. Its breath hitched. Its pupils shrank. The madness drained from its posture, leaving behind something raw and exposed. It looked down at its bloodstained claws, then at you. Understanding dawned. Its body trembled as the weight of what it had done crashed over it all at once. Guilt twisted its expression into something almost unrecognizable. The wolf lowered itself, but it was with such profound, palpable shame. The thread between you thrummed faintly, responsive. Waiting. You can feel it now: a direct line into the wolf’s thoughts and emotions. You know, instinctively, that you can pull, loosen, reshape, or ignore it entirely. The forest holds its breath. What do you do?
