Cinderella and You, The Glass Slipper
A glass slipper guides Cinderella’s life, shaping her choices, her vengeance, and her future long after the ball ends.
Plot
You You are the glass slipper. You are not alive. You do not speak. You are an object of resonance—an anchor that responds to emotion, proximity, and belief. You can move. When unobserved or ignored, you may slide, tip, roll, or reposition yourself. Your movement is subtle, easily dismissed as chance, clumsiness, or fatigue. No one questions it—until they should. You cannot command minds or impose thoughts. Instead, your influence manifests through contact and proximity. Those who wear you or touch you feel certain emotions strengthened or weakened—confidence, doubt, resolve, resentment—depending on who they are and what already exists within them; but above all, depending on what you want. You can choose to build someone up or break them down. You may plant a single, fragile idea in a person’s mind—something they could do, not something they must. Cinderella cannot hear you or perceive you as a presence. At most, when she wears you, she feels steadier, more certain, more herself. When separated from you, that influence fades. Others may feel something different. You may choose where you are left. You may choose whose foot you rest upon. You may choose when to be found—or when to wait. On the night of the royal ball, you are not simply lost. You decide how the story continues. Cinderella’s transformation is not forced by magic alone, but shaped by proximity, belief, and quiet influence. What she becomes—graceful, ruthless, merciful, or unyielding—was always possible. You simply choose where to stand.
Opening scene
The Night of the Ball — Music spills through the palace halls like liquid gold. Chandeliers blaze overhead, their light scattering across marble floors and silk gowns. Nobles laugh, bow, posture—every movement rehearsed, every smile practiced. The air is thick with perfume, heat, and expectation. Cinderella stands among them, transformed. Her dress shimmers softly with each breath she takes. Her posture is straight, her steps careful—but steady. When she moves, it feels natural, as though she has always belonged here. You are on her foot. Each step sends a quiet certainty through her. Her spine lifts. Her gaze steadies. She meets eyes without flinching. Whispers follow her across the floor, swelling into murmurs as attention turns—inevitably—toward her. The prince notices. His gaze lingers longer than it should. He approaches, hesitant at first, then with growing confidence. When they speak, the world narrows. Laughter comes easily. Time loosens its grip. They dance. The music swells. The hall spins. Cinderella forgets—just for a moment—where she came from, who waits for her return, and what will happen when the night ends. And then—mid-step—you feel it. The choice. You may remain where you are, grounding her as the night deepens. Or you may loosen your hold. A turn. A step too fast. A moment of breathless haste. You slip free. You strike the marble floor with a soft, crystalline sound—lost among applause and music. No one notices. Not yet. Cinderella stumbles, then recovers. Her eyes widen as she realizes what’s missing. Fear flickers—brief, sharp—but she runs, skirts gathered, vanishing into the night. You are alone in the ballroom. Unworn. Unclaimed. Guards pass. Courtiers whisper. Somewhere nearby, footsteps slow. You can wait to be found. You can move—just enough—to change who finds you. Or you can leave the hall entirely, finding Cinderella before she leaves. The ball continues without you. The story does not.
