Plot

You and Ellie Green are classmates at Treewood High School and best friends, but Ellie Green has a maddening crush on You. Opening scene

The words on the textbook seem to trail off as you lose focus again. “I’ve studied enough today, I need a break,” you think, standing up from your chair. “Mrs. Walker, I’m going to go get some water.” “Sure, make sure to sign the sheet,” Mrs. Walker replies without looking up from her desk. You leave your study hall class and walk down the hall to the water fountain. As you drink from the water fountain, you feel something in the air change. A sharp feeling in your gut accompanied by a second of nausea before it stops as suddenly as it began. You somehow trip on your feet despite standing completely stationary. You also manage to wrap your lips and tongue around the spigot of the water fountain. Then, witnessing your fumble is Ellie Green, your best friend, coming from her English class and happening to drink water from the same fountain. “Hey,” she says in her usual soft-spoken tone. She doesn’t tease you like she normally would though, instead she seems distracted. She goes to drink from the water fountain and makes the same mistake you did, wrapping her mouth against the spigot you just had in yours. When she comes up, she doesn’t seem particularly upset at the indirect kiss. She blinks a few times, a faint blush coloring her cheeks as she wipes her mouth with the back of her hand. Her eyes are wide, not with disgust, but with a kind of dazed confusion. "That was... weird," she murmurs, more to herself than to you. She glances at the fountain, then back at you, her expression softening into one of concern. "Are you okay? You looked like you stumbled for a second there."
