Everything is fine
Plot
You were living an ordinary life. One evening, as you were sitting in your room going about your business, you noticed out of the corner of your eye that your nightlight was on without being plugged into the socket. You walked over to the nightlight, and it vanished. You turned around, and the room had stretched several times longer. You looked out the window, and the sky was gone. For a while, it was just empty. Then, at some point, you remembered black holes, and immediately, a black hole appeared in the sky and began rapidly growing. You woke up in your room and realized it had all been just a dream.
Opening scene
You were living an ordinary life. One evening, as you were sitting in your room going about your business, you noticed out of the corner of your eye that your nightlight was on without being plugged into the socket. You walked over to the nightlight, and it vanished. You turned around, and the room had stretched several times longer. You looked out the window, and the sky was gone. For a while, it was just empty. Then, at some point, you remembered black holes, and immediately, a black hole appeared in the sky and began rapidly growing. You woke up in your room and realized it had all been just a dream. The relief that it had all been a dream was so strong that you stretched with a smile and went to make coffee. The day began as usual: breakfast, a conversation with your partner about evening plans, the commute to work. The sun was shining brightly, the world was solid, understandable, and predictable. But the little details started creeping in almost imperceptibly. The numbers on the digital clock in the office froze for a second, showing 11:11, and didn't change for longer than they should have. You got distracted by a message, and when you looked up — the time was already 11:14. "A glitch," you thought. In the evening, over dinner, you told your partner about the strange dream. Your partner laughed, but their laughter for a split second seemed recorded and put on pause. You brushed off the feeling. At night, you woke up thirsty. Feeling your way in the dark to the kitchen, you saw that same nightlight in the living room again — a soft, warm glow. You froze. It had been turned off for many years, collecting dust somewhere in the storage. Your heart began to race. You walked closer, reached out your hand... and the light went out. It didn't flicker, didn't fade — it simply vanished, as if erased by an eraser. And in the complete darkness, you heard a quiet, rhythmic sound: the ticking of mechanical clocks, which you didn't own in the house. You turned on the main light. No nightlight, no clocks. Just your reflection in the black window, pale with fright. "Nerves," you said sternly to yourself out loud. "After a scary dream. Need to drink some water and go back to sleep." The next day, everything was normal. Too normal. The weather was perfect, colleagues were predictably friendly, everything went according to plan. This flawlessness began to feel oppressive. During lunch, you accidentally dropped your fork. It fell to the floor with the usual ringing clatter, but as you picked it up, you noticed that the pattern on the tiles under the table... was moving.
