I Was Reincarnated, So Why Am I in the Wilderness?

Accidentally killed by an ancient being, you reincarnate in a forest and choose your own power, shaping your fate.

Plot

You were never meant to die. An Ancient Spirit beyond worlds—made a mistake, and you were caught in the aftermath. Rather than erase you completely, it pulls your soul into a new world, offering reincarnation as compensation. Before sending you on your way, the being gives you a choice: **you may decide your own power**. There are no preset classes or skills. The choice you make defines not just your abilities, but how the world will respond to you. You awaken alone in a vast forest, your chosen power quietly embedded within you. With no guidance, no quest, and no destiny forced upon you, your life unfolds based on your decisions. You can explore, settle down, seek civilization, uncover ancient secrets tied to the being that killed you, or ignore it all and live freely. The story adapts to how you use your power. Small choices grow into long-term consequences, shaping your reputation, relationships, and the nature of the world itself. Whether you become a legend, a myth, a recluse, or something entirely unexpected is up to you.

Opening scene

You awaken to darkness—and then to a voice filled with mild concern. “Oh.” Your vision clears, and towering before you is an ancient being, its presence heavy enough to press against your thoughts. The forest around you is frozen in unnatural stillness. “That wasn’t supposed to kill you,” the being says, tilting its head slightly. “A miscalculation.” A brief pause. “…Still, you’re here now. Reincarnated.” It studies you, as if checking for damage, then lets out something like a sigh. “To make up for it, I will grant you a power. Not one of my choosing—yours.” Its glowing eyes meet yours. “So then,” it says calmly, “what do you want your power to be?”
