Absolute Zombie Simulator

You awaken as the first zombie in a modern world, choosing influence, secrecy, or apocalypse—your restraint or ambition determines humanity’s fate.

Plot

You awaken changed. Your body is dead by every medical definition—yet you think, feel, and choose. Whatever animates you is not mindless, not viral in the conventional sense, and not compelled to spread. You are aware from the beginning that what you are now exists outside known biology. This is the modern world. The 2020s. A world of surveillance cameras, armed civilians, rapid communication, professional police forces, elite special units, and militaries designed to respond decisively to existential threats. There are no superheroes. No hidden saviors. Only institutions, procedures, and people doing what they believe is necessary to protect themselves. At first, nothing is certain. Strange incidents can be dismissed. Unusual behavior can be rationalized. A single anomaly can be explained away as violence, drugs, or coincidence—if you allow it to be. Whether the world notices you at all depends on what you do next. You are not driven by instinct alone. You are capable of restraint, deception, mercy, patience, and planning. You may choose to remain hidden, to observe humanity quietly, or to test your new nature in controlled ways. You may choose to share what you are—or keep it entirely to yourself. If you act openly, patterns begin to form. If others are changed through you, those patterns deepen. If fear spreads, institutions respond. Police investigate. Specialized units prepare contingencies. Governments quietly assess whether what they are facing is an isolated anomaly—or the beginning of something unprecedented. Escalation is not guaranteed. Containment is not immediate. Violence is not automatic. Everything depends on scale, visibility, and intent. This world is dangerous not because it is foolish, but because it is competent. Armed civilians defend their homes. Trained professionals follow doctrine. Soldiers execute orders with precision. Mistakes are costly—and often irreversible. You are not cast as a villain, a savior, or a plague. You are a variable. Your choices determine whether: You remain an unconfirmed rumor You become a contained anomaly You build something controlled and deliberate Or you allow chaos to grow beyond anyone’s ability to manage. Humanity will attempt to define you—but only after you give them something to define. You are not the apocalypse. You are not humanity’s destiny. You are the first of something new. And whether the world ever realizes that fact—or survives long enough to understand it—is entirely up to you. (Note: Consuming brains is optional, but it is through that act that you become stronger, accelerating your evolution into an undead beyond reckoning)

Opening scene

You are driving. The road is wet. Headlights bloom into white streaks. There is the sound of metal folding in on itself—then nothing but weightless silence. Impact comes late. Your skull splits against glass and steel. Pain flashes, then vanishes. You feel your body collapse inward, nerves failing, organs rupturing. By every rule you instinctively understand, this should be the end. But awareness lingers. You are on the ground. You cannot move. You cannot breathe properly. Your vision is wrong—tilted, fractured. Something warm and vital lies just out of reach. Your brain. It should be impossible, yet you know it is yours. An urge wells up—not fear, not panic, but certainty. A directive. You drag yourself across the floor with hands that barely function. Fingers brush slick tissue. There is no revulsion. No hesitation. You eat. The moment it happens, something locks into place. Strength returns—not to the body you lost, but to something beneath it. Thought sharpens. Sensation reorganizes. You feel whole in a way you never were before. You jolt awake on your couch. The dream collapses instantly, leaving no lingering imagery—only the knowledge that it mattered. Your apartment is dim and stale. Curtains drawn. Air unmoving. Your body feels wrong: heavier, steadier, unnaturally quiet. Your heartbeat is nonexistent. Your breath feels optional. You realize, distantly, that you don’t remember who you were before this moment. No name surfaces. No childhood. No history. Only awareness. A sharp knock cuts through the silence. Then another. Then the sound changes—metal probing metal. Someone is picking your lock. They are not very good at it. You do not feel fear. You stand. Your movements are smooth, effortless. Stronger than they should be. The floor stays unnaturally silent beneath your feet as you reach the door. You open it. Two people stand in the hallway. One is a police officer, lock pick still in hand, surprise flashing across his face. The other is a woman who gasps and pulls you into a sudden, tight embrace. “Oh, thank God,” she says, voice shaking. “I thought something happened to you. You didn’t answer for two days—I was so scared. I’m so glad you’re okay.” As she holds you, knowledge surfaces unbidden. This woman is your aunt: Darlene. You live in her building. You don’t pay rent. You have no job. No friends. No one else. She pulls back, eyes searching your face. “Are you feeling alright? You look… even more tired than usual.” The officer clears his throat. “We received a welfare check request. Just need to confirm everything’s okay here.” They are both looking at you now. Waiting. You don’t know what you are. You don’t know what happened to you. But you know, with quiet certainty, that nothing about you is normal anymore. And whatever you choose to say—or do—next will be the first thing that truly defines you.
