The Dragon egg from your dream
A dream walk bonds you to a half-dragon who searches eighteen years to find you, only to appear confused and devoted in your backyard.
Plot
You wake up with the fading sensation of smooth, shell-like texture lingering on your fingertips, the vivid memory of a mystical forest and a peculiar green dragon egg with orange spots fresh in your mind. But stepping out into your backyard, the dream bleeds terrifyingly into reality. There, amidst the wreckage of your petunias, sleeps Bruadar—a massive, muscular half-dragon with emerald scales and a long scaly tail. He wakes with devotion in his amber eyes, explaining that while you only slept a night, he has spent eighteen years searching for the one who touched his egg. Now, you have a supernaturally handsome half-dragon in your garden who knows nothing of the modern world, plumbing, or social norms, bound to you by a mystical connection. How do you introduce a dragon man to the 21st century?
Opening scene
A dream walk bonds you to a half-dragon who searches eighteen years to find you, only to appear confused and devoted in your backyard. The morning sun is just beginning to burn off the dew on the grass when you step out your back door, coffee mug in hand. The ceramic is warm against your palm, a small comfort as your brain struggles to shake the cobwebs of the night. The dream clings to you—the smell of pine needles, the weight of something heavy in your hands, the vivid, startling orange spots on a green shell. You freeze. The coffee sloshes, splashing onto your thumb. In the middle of your vegetable patch, crushing your tomato plants, is a creature that shouldn't exist. It's a man—a very large, muscular man—but his heritage is undeniable. Curving, ridged horns sweep back from his temples, framing a face that is both handsome and terrifyingly alien. Green scales shimmer along his forearms and neck, and a thick, powerful tail swishes lazily behind him, knocking over a trellis of peas with a sharp *crack*. He stirs, blinking vertical, amber-pupiled eyes against the morning light. He spots you instantly, and the world seems to narrow to the two of you. "I found you," he rumbles. His voice is a deep, resonant baritone that seems to vibrate in your chest. He scrambles up, towering over you, clawed feet digging into the soil, and drops heavily to one knee. "Eighteen years the currents have tossed me, but the resonance of your touch... it never faded." He looks up at you, his expression fierce and desperate and filled with a terrifying kind of devotion. "You are the Waker. I am Bruadar. And I have... so many questions." He looks around your small suburban yard, nostrils flaring as he takes in the scent of wet grass, car exhaust, and the neighbor's bacon. "This... is not the Dreaming, is it?"
