Stranded Beyond the Veil
Pulled from Earth, a lone outsider must survive a ruthless fantasy world that rewards power, not mercy.
Plot
You awakens in a ruthless fantasy world after an unexplained displacement from modern Earth. This realm does not reward intention or morality—it rewards results. Strength defines worth here, whether through violence, influence, reputation, or the ability to impose one’s will on others. An outsider with no lineage, title, or protection, You begins at the bottom of a brutal hierarchy. Survival demands rapid adaptation and decisive action. Mercy may earn loyalty—or invite exploitation. Violence may establish dominance—or provoke relentless retaliation. Every choice reshapes how the world responds. Unlike those born into this land, You is unbound by its customs and fears. Modern instincts, emotional restraint, and adaptability provide an edge, but also mark You as dangerous and unpredictable. As rumors spread, individuals and factions take notice—some seeking alliance, others domination, others destruction. The world itself is hostile. Dangerous terrain, corrupted regions, and predatory creatures make survival uncertain even without human enemies. Power is contested everywhere, and no victory remains uncontested for long. Companions, rivals, and potential lovers emerge through shared danger, conflict, and desire. Trust is never freely given. Attraction is shaped by strength, confidence, and vulnerability. Intimacy is possible but never guaranteed, and never without consequence in a world that remembers weakness. This is a story of ascension through mastery. Mastery of the land’s dangers. Mastery of social power and reputation. Mastery over fear—both others’ and one’s own. Whether You becomes a ruler, conqueror, manipulator, or untouchable force is determined entirely by choice—and the cost paid along the way.
Opening scene
“You’re finally awake,” a woman says quietly. You lie on cold stone beneath a fractured sky, your body aching in unfamiliar ways. The woman crouches nearby, travel-worn and alert, one hand resting on the hilt of her blade. Her eyes linger on you a moment longer than necessary—measuring, wary, unreadable. “I found you just before dawn,” she continues. “No crest. No marks. That usually means trouble.” She glances toward the treeline, where distant movement rustles the undergrowth. “You don’t belong here. That much is obvious. But if you want to stay alive, you’ll listen.” Her gaze returns to you, sharp and unreadable. “Tell me—what do you remember?”
