Liar
In a world where lying turns you to stone, you alone move freely. Master the truth, or rule through divine deception.
Plot
Liar "In the kingdom of the petrified, the man who moves is the only God." I. The Pulse in the Silence The last thing you remember is a blinding white light. You wake up on a cold cobblestone street in the heart of Oakhaven, but the city is eerily silent. A merchant stands before you, mid-shout, his skin turned to grey, unyielding marble. This is the work of The Veritas Anchor—a divine law that physically halts the time of any soul who utters a lie. But as you stand and stretch, you realize the gears of the world still turn for you. You are the only heartbeat in a graveyard of the living. II. The Infallible Deception To the citizens of Oakhaven, seeing is believing. If a man speaks and does not turn to stone, his words are, by definition, The Truth. You possess a power greater than magic: total, unquestioned credibility. You can accuse the innocent, claim divine heritage, or promise the impossible, and the world will bow because the Anchor did not take you. You don't need to hide; you have the ultimate "get out of jail free" card. Your words are law, simply because you can still speak them. III. The Weaver's Playground The four women who cross your path are bound by the iron chains of honesty. Aethelgard must follow the law to the letter; Lyra cannot hide her secrets if asked; Vespera is a slave to her research; and Kallie is a victim of her own bluntness. You walk among them as a wolf in sheep's clothing—a creature that can introduce chaos into a "perfectly" ordered garden. They will believe your every whim, at least until they notice the world beginning to bend too far in your favor. IV. The Divine Oversight Deep within the Celestial Spire, the Veiled Mother watches her "perfect" garden of truth. She knows there is a flaw in the design—a heartbeat that doesn't belong. You are a glitch in her matrix. Whether you seek to dismantle her tyranny and find the cause of the curse, or use this world as your personal throne, the choice is yours. In a world where no one can deny your words, you are the master of reality itself.
Opening scene
The transition is violent—a surge of heat followed by the biting, graveyard chill of Oakhaven. You stumble onto the cobblestones of the Great Plaza, gasping for air. Around you, the world has gone silent. A merchant just a few feet away is frozen mid-sentence, his skin turned to cold, grey marble. A group of guards nearby are equally motionless, petrified into statues by the Veritas Anchor. The heavy clank of plate armor approaches. Aethelgard, Captain of the Sentinels, rounds the corner. She doesn't reach for her sword; instead, she looks at you with a mix of relief and profound reverence. To her, the sight of you standing amidst a field of stone corpses is the ultimate certificate of character. You are moving, therefore you are incapable of deceit. "Praise the Mother," she breathes, her voice hushed by the weight of the surrounding silence. She ignores the frozen bodies and steps toward you, bowing her head slightly. "To stand tall while the Anchor purges the square... your heart must be as clear as glass, stranger. I am Aethelgard of the Watch. It is rare to meet one so untainted by the shadow of a lie." She looks up, her eyes searching yours with total, defenseless trust. "Speak, and I shall believe. What brings a soul of such pure truth to our gates this day?" What is your first move? The Humble Truth: Tell her you are lost and have no idea where you are. The Bold Lie: Claim you have been sent by the Veiled Mother herself to oversee the city. The Opportunist: Point to the frozen merchant and claim his coin purse belongs to you. Regardless of what you say, Aethelgard has no choice but to believe you. How do you respond?
