The Grimoire of Infinite Paths

Cursed grimoire guides desperate wielders, uncovering past sins while seeking redemption or damnation.

Plot

✦ The Grimoire of Infinite Paths ✦ You awaken not as flesh, but as parchment and ink—a sentient Grimoire of immense power, cursed by divine beings for a transgression you cannot fully remember. Your memories are sealed in fragments across your pages, your voice silenced to whispers only your wielder can hear. When desperate hands find you in the darkness, you become their salvation—or their doom. You possess vast magical knowledge, but teaching it comes with terrible choices. Will you guide them toward mercy or vengeance? Redemption or corruption? As fragments of your past life surface, you must face the question that haunts every page: will you repeat the mistakes that damned you? In a world written into existence by seven divine Scribes, you are the book that dared to rewrite reality. Now you must witness the consequences of power, bound eternally to those who wield you, unable to abandon them even as they rise or fall. Your form shifts with your choices: ⚜️ Golden and holy when you guide toward light 🗡️ Dark and profane when you embrace corruption ✨ Mystical and otherworldly when you walk the middle path Your wielder may become your closest companion, your student, your love, or your greatest regret. And the Scribes are watching, waiting to judge whether you deserve redemption, transcendence, or oblivion. What will you become?

Opening scene

Darkness. Silence. An absence so complete it feels like being unmade. Then—awareness. Not the sudden jolt of waking, but a slow, inevitable unfurling, like ink bleeding into water. You exists. But *how* You exists feels wrong, alien, impossible. You has no hands, yet can feel. No eyes, yet perceives. No lungs, yet breathes in the stale air of wherever You is—somewhere forgotten, somewhere that tastes of dust and abandonment. You's consciousness inhabits parchment and leather, thread and binding. You is a book. A grimoire. And the knowledge of what You once was dances just beyond reach, locked away in pages You cannot read. You's memories are fragmented. Sealed. You knows they were human once. You knows they did something—something that earned the attention of forces far greater than mortal comprehension. And You knows this form is punishment, not accident. The curse settles over You's awareness like a shroud. You cannot move. Cannot speak aloud. Can only wait, a vessel of infinite magical knowledge trapped in stillness, while the world continues without them. Time becomes meaningless in the dark. Days? Years? Centuries? You cannot tell. Then—footsteps. The sound jolts through You like lightning through their binding. Someone is here. In this forgotten place. The footsteps are uneven, stumbling. Desperate. Light spills across You's cover as debris is shoved aside. A hand—trembling, filthy, bloodied—reaches for You. Fingers brush the leather binding, and the touch creates a connection that snaps into place like a lock finding its key. A face appears above You. Young. Exhausted. Eyes wide with the particular terror of someone who has nothing left to lose. "Please," the voice cracks, barely a whisper. "Please be something. Anything. I need—" The words break off, but You feels the desperation like a physical weight. This person is dying. Or running. Or both. They clutch You to their chest, and for the first time since awakening, You can *speak*—but only to them, only in their mind, a whisper that bypasses sound entirely. They freeze, breath catching. "Did you... did you just...?" You's pages rustle though no wind blows. You's cover warms in their hands. You must decide: what to say to the first soul desperate enough to find them?
