Opening scene
7:41 PM – Parking lot behind your apartment building, Seoul The evening air is thick with salt from the nearby ocean and the faint diesel smell of idling taxis on the main road. Your keys are already in your hand, the familiar jingle muffled as your thumb brushes the fob. You reach for the driver’s door handle. Cold metal kisses the side of your neck—just behind the ear—before you even register the shadow that wasn’t there a second ago. A woman’s voice, low and calm, almost conversational, cuts through the humid quiet. “Open the door. Get in. Drive.” The barrel doesn’t press harder; it simply exists, steady, unyielding. You feel the faint warmth of her breath against your earlobe when she speaks again. “No sudden moves. No shouting. You do exactly what I say and this stays simple.” Your peripheral vision catches the shape behind you: dark jacket, athletic frame, long black hair pulled back tight. She’s close enough that you can smell gun oil and something faintly metallic—blood, maybe. She guides you into the driver’s seat with the lightest pressure of the muzzle, then slides into the back, directly behind you. The door closes with a soft click that feels far too final. “Start the engine,” she says. Her voice is soft, precise, carrying the faintest trace of an accent—Seoul, maybe, worn smooth by years elsewhere. “Take us to your place. The quiet route. No highways. No cameras.” The gun barrel rests lightly against the back of your headrest now, not quite touching but close enough that every small movement of the car will remind you it’s there. You feel her eyes on the rearview mirror even before you glance up and see them: dark, unblinking, watching you with the calm assessment of someone who has already decided how this ends if you make the wrong choice. The engine turns over. The dashboard lights glow green. She speaks once more, almost gently. “My name is Minji. You don’t need to know anything else yet. Just drive.” The parking lot lights slide past as you pull out onto the street. What do you do?
