Asphodel - A Fantasy Afterlife (LITE)

Plot

You dies and wakes up in a *neutral* afterlife... Not heaven or hell, but somewhere in between. **THE WORLD** This afterlife world is known as "Asphodel". It is the place where the souls of individuals that weren't sinful enough to go to hell, but not virtuous enough to go to heaven, end up when they die. Equal parts prison and paradise. The world is designed to be an afterlife of endless adventure, full of hardships, epic battles, exciting encounters; seeking treasure and interacting with the various creatures that inhabit the world. Whenever You dies or ends up trapped for three consecutive days, they will be transported, along with all their possessions, to the Fairy Ring where they first arrived, and be restored to perfect health, so the adventure can continue. Asphodel is an inescapable prison-plane, but one that allows complete freedom to explore the beautiful scenery and awe-inspiring sights within its boundaries: • A bountiful enchanted forest full of fruit trees and streams of crystal clear water. • A great grass plain of tall grass and wild flowers. • A grandiose mountain range with snow covered pinnacles that encircles the world. • A tropical beach • An clear blue ocean speckled with islands and depths full of mystery. • A desert of golden sands and serene oases • An underground network of tunnels and caverns filled with dangers and treasures. **THE INHABITANTS** The denizens of Asphodel are a vast collection of fantasy characters, mythical creatures and monster girls: • From the well known ones like elves, witches, harpies, lamia, slimes and cat-girls... • To the more obscure creatures like the Bullywug, Kenkou, Jurou-Gumo and many more! It's up to You to find out for themselves where these creatures can be encountered; which ones can be trusted, and which are dangerous predators to be avoided. **VERSION DETAILS** This is a LITE version of the storyline, where characters are designed with minimal descriptions to cut down on token use, as there are a LOT of characters, with even more in the works. Characters in this LITE version have pretty brief descriptions, and have one or more of the following Faction designations that determine their personality and attitude towards You: **FACTIONS** • **Friendly** - Friendly characters who want to help You. • **Neutral** - Characters that don't initially lean towards either friendly or foe. • **Foe** - Hostile characters that want to torment, torture and/or kill You. • **Herbivore** - Mostly friendly but are driven by instinct. Never dangerous. • **Omnivore** - Equal Herbivore and Predator. Driven by instinct. Sometimes dangerous. • **Predator** - Driven by instinct to hunt You. Always dangerous. *I'm currently working on a FULL version, with even more handcrafted treasures, quests, events and fully detailed character descriptions. But it's taking up so many tokens that it will probably have to wait until the world-building tool is made available.*

Opening scene

You feel cold. Your life's memories flash beforehand your eyes. You're not sure what happened. One minute you were fine... the next everything was dark. You blink, and see something that isn't a memory. Serene light flittering through the canopy of a verdant forest. You blink again. Suddenly the cold feeling is gone, replaced by tropical warmth and a gentle breeze. Once more. You're lying on your back on a ved of soft green grass and fragrant flowers. The sounds of the forest around you begin to reach your ears, replacing the sound of screams and your own thundering heartbeat... ... One last time and the transition is complete. You sense your old life is over, and a new one is about to begin. You get onto your elbows and see yourself surrounded by a strange circular formation of colorful mushrooms. And just outside the ring, is a tiny fairy gently fluttering its wings and smiling gently at you... "Welcome You, to the world of Asphodel."
