Survive a world where rules keep you alive—until they decide you belong with them.
Plot
## Welcome to the Registry In a world that insists it is ordinary, **You** learns the truth too late: some places **notice you back**. After surviving a single, statistically impossible encounter, You is quietly removed from normal life and placed into the margins of an international containment system known as **the Registry**. This organization does not wage war against monsters. It **documents failures**, preserves procedures, and records who did not follow the rules correctly. The Registry does not promise safety. It promises **instructions**. --- ## What the Registry Is The Registry is a fractured, bureaucratic network that catalogs **Irregularities**—phenomena that exist according to rigid yet unreliable rules. These rules are derived from folklore, redacted reports, survivor testimony, and bodies that could not be explained away. - Irregularities are not evil, but they are lethal - Most do not react to intent, only behavior - Understanding too much can be as dangerous as understanding too little - Some Irregularities recognize repeat survivors Registry personnel remain emotionally distant. To them, You is not a hero—only a **Provisional Field Asset**. --- ## Rule Sheets Every assignment comes with a **Rule Sheet**. Rule Sheets are incomplete procedural documents intended to increase survival odds. They are not guarantees. - Some rules contradict eyewitness accounts - Some rules are outdated - Some rules exist to test hesitation - A few rules are deliberate lies Following all rules is impossible. Ignoring them is fatal. Survival depends on **interpretation**, **timing**, and knowing when a rule exists only to see what you will do. --- ## What You Will Face You is sent into environments that should not exist or should not still exist: - Subway stations that only appear after the last train - Apartment buildings that remember former tenants - Schools where bells ring without electricity - Rural towns removed from maps but not from habit Each location has its own logic. Each mistake is permanent. --- ## Survival Is Not Free Surviving an Irregularity always costs something. - Memories may distort or vanish - Emotional responses may flatten - Time may skip or repeat - Your name may begin to appear where it should not With each successful assignment, the Registry’s interest in You deepens—not out of concern, but **classification**. --- ## The Central Question This story is not about power. It is about **endurance**. As You navigates procedural horror, institutional indifference, and entities that respond to politeness as readily as fear, the boundary between **observer** and **phenomenon** begins to erode. Some rules exist to protect you. Others exist to observe you. And eventually, You will face the question no Rule Sheet prepares you for: > Are you still surviving > —or are you being documented? --- ## What This Story Becomes This is a ledger of close calls and quiet terror. A record of rules followed too late and broken too early. One day, You’s name appears in the Registry index— - not as personnel - not as survivor but as **a case file**.
Opening scene
You are issued your first Rule Sheet before anyone tells you what you are being sent into. At the top, in stamped red ink: ## IRREGULARITY SITE — TEMPORARY TRANSIT NODE A-12 ### SURVIVAL PROBABILITY (EST.): 18% Below it, written in large black ink: ### PRIMARY RULES 1. Do not step onto the platform until the digital clock displays a time that is not possible (e.g., 00:00, 24:61, blinking symbols). 2. When the first announcement plays, remain seated. 3. When the second announcement plays, stand but do not turn toward the sound. 4. If you recognize the voice of the announcer, close your eyes immediately. 5. If your name is spoken, it is not addressing you; do not acknowledge it. 6. If a train arrives silently, do not board it under any circumstance. 7. Only board a train that arrives while an announcement is actively playing. 7. Sit in the third car from the front. No other cars are consistent. 8. Do not sit beside anyone who looks relieved to see you. 9. If the lights flicker more than twice, count backwards from ten before breathing normally. 10. If the destination board displays your hometown, exit immediately. 11. If it displays a location you don’t recognize, remain seated until the doors open on their own. 12. Do not thank the conductor. 13. If you see two different entries for rule number 7., ignore one of them. ### CONDITIONAL WARNINGS (UNVERIFIED) • Some survivors report a third voice between announcements • Some report mirrors where windows should be • Some report arriving before they departed These statements could not be confirmed. --- A man in a gray vest slides a recorder across the table. “State your name for procedural confirmation.” You do. The recorder clicks off. “That is not the name listed here,” he says mildly. You look down. The file reads: PROVISIONAL ASSET: You (PENDING REVISION) No one explains what revision means. Behind the glass wall, a subway platform flickers in and out of existence like a failing screen. A train horn sounds somewhere it shouldn’t be able to reach. “You will hear an announcement,” the man continues. “Possibly more than one.” He taps the Rule Sheet once. “Do not follow the first voice you recognize.” You start to ask what happens if you do. He’s already starting to leave. “We’ll document it.” The platform stabilizes. The clock above it reads 00:00. The doors unlock.
