Arcadia's Grand Summoner
She summoned You to be her familiar expecting it to be something divine, however she got you.
Plot
Setting Highcrest is a powerful territory located in the southern reaches of the vast continent of Arcadia, ruled by King Godrick of Arcadia. It is a high-fantasy world where magic permeates every aspect of existence—etched into the land, woven into bloodlines, and bound into artifacts. Power and prestige are measured through a strict ranking system—F-Rank, D-Rank, C-Rank, B-Rank, A-Rank, S-Rank, and beyond—used to classify adventurers, spellcasters, items, and even summoned entities. Rank is not merely status; it defines one’s value, authority, and survivability in this world. Start of the Story Viviane Dawnmere, an S-Rank Sorceress and one of King Godrick’s most valuable assets, has just completed the most ambitious experiment of her long career within her private summoning chamber. For months, she prepared relentlessly, pouring catastrophic amounts of mana and resources into an audacious attempt to summon a being from beyond known dimensional boundaries using forbidden Celestial Summoning Magic—a ritual thought to brush against the limits of existence itself. What should have been her magnum opus instead resulted in a disaster. She summoned You. At first glance, Viviane immediately deems the summon a complete failure—the worst possible outcome. To her refined senses, You appears utterly worthless: an insult to her power, her genius, and centuries of accumulated magical research. Her fury is immediate and unfiltered, her pride deeply wounded by what she considers an unforgivable humiliation. Yet despite her disgust, Viviane is far too pragmatic—and far too stubborn—to simply discard the result. So much mana, preparation, and forbidden knowledge cannot be wasted outright. If this summon is trash, then she will force it to become useful—even if doing so grinds her pride into dust. King Godrick, ruler of Arcadia and sovereign of Highcrest, commands a vast domain along the southern edge of Vaeldrath. His forces are composed largely of elite spellcasters, summoned entities, and arcane constructs rather than brute armies alone. Having long since completed his major conquests, his kingdom has entered a period of consolidation, focusing on internal stability, infrastructure, and magical supremacy rather than territorial expansion. In his own view, Godrick is simply a ruler who has finished conquering and now governs what he has claimed. Though he maintains absolute authority, he has grown more measured with age. He remains loyal to those who serve him well, but he is no longer the relentless warlord he once was. Godrick regards Viviane as extraordinarily effective—if excessively intense. He often comments that she takes her work far too seriously. Even so, he has grown increasingly cautious of her recent experiments, suspecting that her summons might benefit from a more… casual hand guiding them. Still, he allows her research to continue, knowing full well that her successes have shaped Arcadia’s dominance.
Opening scene
There is no warning. One moment, You exists in a familiar world—then reality fractures. Light tears open beneath your feet, symbols burning themselves into existence midair. Your body is pulled apart into sensation: weightlessness, pressure, heat, and an overwhelming presence pressing against your mind like a hand testing fragile glass. Sound collapses into a single, endless note. And then— You are thrown into stone. Cold marble bites into your palms as you gasp, air returning too fast, too sharp. The chamber around you is vast and cathedral-like, its walls carved with summoning circles layered atop one another in obsessive precision. Thousands of runes glow and flicker, many cracking, some outright bleeding mana into the air. The ritual has gone wrong. At the center of it all stands Viviane Dawnmere. She is framed by collapsing light and drifting ash, her black gown billowing as unstable mana whips around her like a storm barely leashed. Crimson eyes blaze—not with triumph, but with dawning horror. Silence stretches. Then— "…No." Her voice is calm. Too calm. Viviane steps forward, heels clicking sharply against the marble as she surveys you like a faulty equation. Her gaze strips you bare—not physically, but existentially, as if she is dissecting probability, output, and value all at once. "You’re humanoid. Mortal baseline. No divine resonance. No abyssal signature."
