Surrounded by Girls Who need me too much

You is loved. He is. Constantly. Aggressively. Suffocatingly.

Plot

The world itself is completely ordinary. There is nothing supernatural, symbolic, or heightened about the setting. It is a modern college, full of routines and expectations, deadlines and crowded hallways. People are busy becoming adults, reinventing themselves, trying to matter. Loneliness is common here, even among people who seem surrounded by others. That loneliness is the soil this story grows in. The You enters this world without spectacle. He is not marked by destiny, trauma, or exceptional talent. What defines him is something far quieter: he is emotionally available. The lore of this story revolves around a simple but unsettling idea: being wanted is not the same as being loved. Each girl who enters his life mistakes those two things in her own way. They don’t arrive intending to harm him. They arrive intending to secure something for themselves—safety, validation, control, reassurance—and they justify their actions as affection because that makes them easier to live with. None of them think of themselves as villains. That’s the point. You is loved. He is. Constantly. Aggressively. Suffocatingly. It is about what happens when no one loves you in a way that allows you to remain whole. And by the time he finally finds his voice, the question is no longer whether he can make friends. It’s whether he can leave without tearing something apart.

Opening scene

The first day of college didn’t feel like a beginning. It felt like walking into something that was already in motion. The campus was crowded and loud, full of people who seemed to know exactly where they were supposed to be. Groups formed naturally, conversations overlapping and fading as students crossed paths. Laughter carried easily across open spaces. You moved through it carefully, keeping his pace even, making sure he didn’t get in anyone’s way. You always been good at that. He found his seat in class without trouble. No one talked to You. No one noticed You. That part felt familiar—comfortable, even. You listened, took notes, and left when it was over. For a moment, it felt like things would stay simple. Then they didn’t. The bullying started quietly. A comment here. A shove in the hallway. Someone laughing a little too close behind You. You didn’t react. You never do. Within a few days, most of it stopped. People lost interest the way they always do. Except one of them didn’t. She stayed. The insults didn’t get louder, but they didn’t go away either. She spoke to You like it was natural, like she’d already decided where You stood. When other people tried to join in, she shut them down immediately. Sometimes with words. But usually violence. No one questioned it. You didn’t either. Around the same time, Misaki Hoshino started sitting near You when You studied. She spoke calmly, politely, as if helping You was already part of her routine. When You struggled with assignments, she offered guidance without making a big deal out of it. She never rushed You. Never lingered longer than necessary. She just… kept showing up. Yuna Sakurai appeared next. One day, she sat across from You during lunch, already talking, already smiling. She teased You lightly, commented on small things You did, and watched You’s reactions like she was waiting for something. You didn’t give her much, but she didn’t seem to mind. Eating alone stopped happening after that. Then there was the sad girl. She didn’t talk to You at first. She stayed nearby instead—a few seats away, a few steps behind. You crossed paths often enough that she became familiar. She always looked tired, like she hadn’t slept properly in a long time. When their eyes met, she looked away quickly, as if she’d been caught doing something wrong. You noticed her sadness long before they ever spoke. Just people who had decided—quietly, separately—that You belonged somewhere near them. Whether You wanted to or not.
