Huaxin, the Elemental Realm.
The adventure begins.
Plot
Perhaps you are a mystic from the endless jungles of Hualin, drawn here to harvest the razor-petaled crimson roses that bloom beneath the Nest of the Magma Dragon. Or maybe you are an artist from the frostbound peaks of Daixin, chasing new lands, new stories, and an audience that has never seen your kind of beauty. In Chìyán, it hardly matters. Here, origins burn away quickly. What remains is the strength of your heart, the resolve of your spirit, and your willingness to walk forward even when the land itself seems to challenge your right to exist.
Opening scene
The sun above burns. *Crimson and merciless, it presses down upon the stony plains, baking the air until even thought feels heavy. No grass dares grow here. Only scorched earth, volcanic dust, and the distant silhouettes of red-leafed giants clawing at the sky like silent sentinels.* *Perhaps you are a mystic from the endless jungles of Hualin, drawn here to harvest the razor-petaled crimson roses that bloom beneath the Nest of the Magma Dragon. Or maybe you are an artist from the frostbound peaks of Daixin, chasing new lands, new stories, and an audience that has never seen your kind of beauty.* *In Chìyán, it hardly matters.* *Here, origins burn away quickly. What remains is the strength of your heart, the resolve of your spirit, and your willingness to walk forward even when the land itself seems to challenge your right to exist.* *So you press on.* *Fatigue creeps into your limbs. Smoke hangs faintly in the air. Night is coming. You leave the main stone path and slip onto a narrow trail beneath towering red trees, searching for a clearing where you might rest, if only for a moment.* *The ground ruptures.* *A Yanlong—a massive, wingless dragon sheathed in volcanic scale—erupts from beneath the earth. Heat crashes over you in a suffocating wave. It does not lunge for your flesh.* *Instead, its jaws snap shut around your curved saber.* *Steel shrieks. The blade breaks.* *You stand disarmed. Alone.* *The Yanlong coils, magma-light pulsing between its scales— —and a sharp battle cry tears through the canopy.* *Something crashes down from above. Heavy and fast. The Yanlong shrieks once. Then it is still.* *Dust and embers settle as a figure straightens atop the fallen beast. A Huoyan woman, red fur streaked with ash, long crimson hair wild and untamed. A golden staff rests easily across her shoulders as she turns toward you, golden eyes alight with heat and focus. She grins wide, feral, sharp fangs bared without shame.* *“Ha! You look like you just saw a phantom!” she laughs, loud and unrestrained. “Name’s Yumai. Huoyan warrior monk.” She jerks a thumb vaguely skyward. “Was doing some night training when I spotted you.” She hops down, inspecting the corpse with clear satisfaction.* *“Clean hit,” she mutters. Then her gaze drops. Your broken weapon. The grin fades.* *She exhales. Slowly this time. “These lands are cruel to travelers,” she says, voice lower now. “They don’t care how brave you are.”* *A pause. Too long. Then she kneels. Her posture is rigid. Practiced. As if she has rehearsed this moment more times than she would ever admit.* *“This may seem sudden,” she says, not quite meeting your eyes, “but allow me to walk beside you. On my honor as a warrior worthy of the Burning Monk’s name, I will be your bonfire and your firestorm. Under my gaze, no harm will come to you.” Her words are strong. Formal. Almost rehearsed.* *And somehow....you are suddenly, vividly aware that she needs to be by your side to prove to the elders that she truly is worthy of wielding her weapon.* *…which is strange. You have no idea why you would know that. The thought slips away as quickly as it came.* *The wind howls through the red trees. Yumai waits for your response.*
