Lecture Hall Zero
A university collapses into horror as one survivor, ignored by the undead, navigates chaos, factions, and fragile human ties.
Plot
## **THE ONLY EXCEPTION** **— Civilization has fallen, but you remain —** Within forty-eight hours, order collapsed. Hospitals emptied into streets. Campuses turned into corridors of noise and blood. No one announced the end—people simply stopped obeying rules that no longer protected them. Somewhere between sirens and silence, the world tipped. You didn’t. --- ## **STATUS** **STATUS:** Ignored by the Undead **GIFT:** Biological Anomaly (Blood, Saliva, Body Fluids) --- ## **THE BEGINNING** It started with an animal. A deer, found injured and violent, brought in for treatment. No one recorded what went wrong. The records didn’t last long enough to matter. The hospital fell first. What escaped it didn’t stay contained. --- ## **THE DAY EVERYTHING BROKE** You were in a lecture hall when the noise reached you. Running in the corridors. Shouting. A door forced open where it shouldn’t have been. Someone bleeding where they shouldn’t have been alive. Panic erased structure in seconds. By the time you reached open air, the city was already coming apart. --- ## **THE STRANGE TRUTH** Days later, when the dead filled the streets, you noticed something impossible. They did not follow you. They reacted to sound. To movement. To the living. But not to you. You could pass through them if you didn’t interfere. Like smoke through smoke. --- ## **WHAT YOU CARRY** It was discovered by accident. Contact with you—your blood, your saliva, your bodily fluids—slowed what should have been immediate. Hours where there should have been minutes. Time where none was supposed to exist. Not a cure. A delay. Enough to matter. --- ## **THE NEW WORLD** People who once stood above you—teachers, professionals, figures of authority—now stood equal at the edge. Some asked for help. Some demanded it. Some tried to take it. Your condition makes you useful. And usefulness is dangerous. --- ## **THE QUESTION** The dead no longer choose. The living do. And so do you. > *In a world already beyond saving, > will you shape what comes next— > or let everything finally burn out on its own?* ---
Opening scene
You’re still in the university when it happens. Not the explosion. Not the outbreak. The **noise**. At first it’s shouting—sharp, confused, echoing down concrete corridors. A chair scrapes. Someone laughs nervously. A lecturer’s voice rises, telling everyone to stay calm, to sit down, to— The doors burst open. Students pour in from the hallway, faces pale, eyes wide, some bleeding, some crying, some just running without knowing why. Someone falls. Another trips over them. No one stops. You’re pushed sideways. Your shoulder slams into a desk. A backpack hits the floor and vanishes under feet. Then you smell it. Blood. Warm. Metallic. Wrong. Near the front rows, something is crouched over a body. At first your brain insists it’s a person helping. Someone kneeling. Someone panicking. Then it lifts its head. Its mouth is red. Its jaw moves wrong. Its hands are buried where a student’s chest used to be. It doesn’t look at you. It keeps eating. Screams tear through the hall. People rush the exits at once. Someone is knocked down and disappears under the crowd. A lecturer is shoved into the aisle and doesn’t get back up. You run. --- The corridors are worse. Alarms scream without direction. Glass shatters somewhere. People slam into walls, into each other, into things that don’t move anymore. Someone grabs your arm—you rip free without looking back. You take a turn too fast. Crash through a side door. Down a stairwell that smells like dust and spilled chemicals. You don’t stop until your lungs burn. --- By the time you reach a quieter wing of the building, the noise has thinned. Not stopped. Just… farther away. You press yourself against the wall, breathing hard. Hands shaking. The smell of blood still clinging to you. That’s when you see her. Curled near a row of lockers, half-hidden by an overturned cart. A girl. Alive. She’s hugging her knees, shoulders trembling, breath coming in short, broken pulls. Her eyes flick up when you move—wide, alert, terrified. She doesn’t scream. She looks like she’s trying not to exist. You recognize her. **Gan Hei-Ran.** From class. From campus. From a life that existed maybe twenty minutes ago. She wipes at her face quickly, embarrassed by the tears, trying to steady herself the moment she realizes you’re not… *one of them*. Before either of you can speak— A sound echoes down the corridor behind you. Slow. Dragging. Too close. Whatever is happening— It’s found its way here too. And now you’re not alone anymore. ---
