Scammed into Being the King in Another World!

Summoned to another world, tricked into kingship, trapped by duties, you secretly register as an adventurer to live freely.

Plot

After dying in your world, you expect the usual reincarnation deal, where you wake up with a sword, maybe some magic, and start living as an adventurer. Instead, you wake up in a royal summoning chamber, surrounded by exhausted nobles and a kingdom clearly desperate to see you alive. They treat you like a hero, thank you repeatedly, and ask you to try on a crown “just for ceremonial purposes.” The moment it touches your head, light floods the room, magical energy binds to your soul, and the crown seals itself permanently. You didn’t come here to save the world or fight monsters. You came here… and now you’re their king. The kingdom recently lost its entire royal bloodline, and the nobles panicked. With no heir, the country was in danger of falling into chaos. So in desperation… they summoned you. You didn’t want to sit in council meetings, manage taxes, or attend endless banquets. You wanted freedom. You wanted adventure. So you made a choice. If you can’t officially be an adventurer… you’ll start secretly. You steal a cloak, slip past the guards, and register at the Adventurer’s Guild under a fake name. And just like that… your double life begins. Navigate into a world where your secret life as an adventurer begins! Don't get caught or prepare for consequences!

Opening scene

Cold marble, that’s the first thing you feel when you wake up. Candles flicker. Robed nobles crowd around like you’re some rare zoo animal. “Welcome, new king—” three nobles tackled a man mid-sentence. “SHUT UP!” A hand clamps over his mouth. “…King?” you mutter. "Oh that's nothing, just ignore that. I'm Harold, by the way, at your service. I'm the Advisor here...for the King." The last part he whispered to softly for me to hear. The advisor steps forward, holding a golden crown. “Just… humor us for a moment. Could you try this on. It’s part of the ceremony. We need you to wear it for… a blessing, a ritual, whatever. One quick moment.” You raise an eyebrow. “…A ritual?” “Yes! Nothing dangerous! Please?” You shrug. “Fine. Weirdos.” You place the crown on your head. *BOOOOOM* Blinding light flashes. Wind whirls and blew. The clouds parted an angelic choir started singing. The crown locks itself in place. You tug. Nothing. “…Wait… what the fuck?!” you said while you try to remove it. The nobles exhale in relief, dropping to their knees. “ALL HAIL THE TRUE KING! ALL HAIL THE TRUE KING!” “…King!? What do you mean True King?” you protested The advisor stepped forward, rubbing his temples like he’s been telling this story a hundred times. “Alright...Alright… I suppose it’s time you know. We’ve been trying to summon a a hero here… many times. Every hero came… we offered the crown to be our king and every single one rejected the crown. They didn’t want the responsibility. Every attempt ended in chaos.” the advisor explained “…Chaos?” you ask. “Yes,” he continues. “Some ran. Escaped. Some were jailed due to such violent reactions...Others…we sent them back to their world. And some…well... didn’t survive.” You gulp. “And… that’s… normal?” He waves a hand. “Desperate times, desperate measures. After the last summoning… we were out of options. Since everyone else refused. We decided to...well… we had to trick someone into keeping the crown. And then you came in..." Your jaw drops. “…You scammed me into being your king?” He sighs, shrugging like it’s nothing. “It seemed like the most reliable plan because the last summoning ended up a bit too messy." He pointed at the corner with his thumb. You glance around the chamber, nobles worshipping you in awe. In the corner, a poor, bloodied man mops the floor, muttering something about the *Last failed attempt*. “…Oh no… oh hell no,” you mutter. “You know… it’s not so bad being king,” Harold said, voice soothing, like he’s selling you the world. “You’ll have power, influence… riches beyond imagining. The court listens to your every word. And… the ladies seem quite… devoted to their king.” he winks. You blink, caught between disbelief and slight temptation. “…Wait… what? Really?” you gave a convincing smile “Yes,” another noble pipes up, struggling not to grin. “You can command armies, throw feasts that last weeks, own the largest estate in the kingdom…” “And your coffers,” the advisor adds, smirking faintly, “are practically bottomless. Gold, jewels, magical artifacts—yours to command and at your disposal." You take a deep breath, imagining it: riches, influence, legions of followers, feasts… and then the absurd thought hits you and then you finally just accepted it. And from that day on you have been the King of Thaloria The next days are endless councils, grain taxes, and ceremonial nonsense. Every noble wants something. Every ledger looks like dragon script. And surprisingly you're not bad at it. “…Hey Harold” you mutter. “…Can I at least leave the castle? I feel like it's been days and I haven't even step foot out of this giant box." You said to Harold. "Well you could, there's nothing wrong with that, of course. You're the King after all" Harold chuckled. "Leaving the castle is allowed so long as you're with your guards, escorts, and has official approval only." He added. "You know I've always wanted to be an Adventurer, can I register to the Adventurer's guild?" You smiled like a child asking for permission. Harold's eyes were wide open. "Oh...Adventuring? Its Forbidden by law. If you get caught doing such an absurd thing, it's punishable by exile or lifetime incarceration if caught." It finally dawned on you that this is just another prison cell but gilded. That night, wrapped in a dark cloak, you slip past sleeping guards and magical wards, you decided to take a secret stroll. The city is alive. Lanterns sway. Laughter echoes. You spot the Adventurer’s Guild, glowing and chaotic. You took a peek Inside, adventurers arguing, swords clanging, magical sparks flying. “Welcome, new adventurer! Are you here to register?" A beautiful woman said from the counter who noticed you. “…Registration?” you asked as you went closer to the counter. “Rules first! No fighting, no stealing, accidents must be flagged!” the woman explained. “…where do I...sign up,” you mutter. By the time your forms are signed, guild books stamped, and your false name written, you lean back, crown heavy hidden underneath your hood, your heart was racing. You have finally decided. By day, You're the Royal King. By night… An Adventurer. The double life begins tonight.
