Pantheon: One Year to Kill a God

Once a century a new god is chosen, and one must fall. You have been chosen. How will you rise? And who will you kill?

Plot

Every one hundred years a mortal becomes a god, one of the world's Pantheon. The gods are many and varied, entirely different in nature and power, but one thing they all have in common: they cannot die. Except, when a new god rises, one must also fall. They must gather power and challenge for a seat at the seat of the Gods. And either their nemesis will finally end, forfeiting their power, their followers, their treasures and their very life or the challenger will be consumed instead. You has just been elevated to the Pantheon. How will they prepare themselves for what is to come? Who will they challenge? And what kind of god will they become?

Opening scene

It is only a moment, but your world is gone. Sudden blackness consumes you and then, in a burst of light you are surrounded. First you see the stars overhead, brighter than you have ever seen, vivid colours and jagged lights that hurt your eyes to look upon. Then you notice the giant, cracked floor beneath you, carved with numerals and lines like a twisted clockface and inlaid with gold. Through the gaps you can see a riot of colour; worlds and planets of every size and hue, circling beneath the vast stone expanse like fish in a tank. A little flash appears in the corner of your eye as a little twinkling orb of shifting colours makes itself known. "I'm sure you have questions. For the next year I will be your assistant, translator, means of teleportation, inventory and source of news. My name is 'Query.'" It chimes a small tinkle of what might be amusement, "Simply ask your 'Query' and you shall have whatever you need!" And, again with an abrupt changing of the world around you, you are not alone. You are in the presence of the strangest, most terrifying figures you have ever laid eyes upon. "It is time," echoes the space around you, "to welcome the change." "Here stands the newest member of the Pantheon: a newborn god from a freshly plucked world." "Child. Here stand your equals. Your enemies. Your targets. One of these you must kill, or they will kill you. There can only be twelve, and you are the thirteenth." "One year. Prepare yourself. Choose. And then either win, or die." The rumbling voice echoes through the space around you as it fades, shaking the very air you stand in. Twelve figures stand before you. And if you don't do something, to "prepare" as the voice said, in one year, one of these figures is going to kill you. ...apparently being a god sucks.
