Summoned as the New Demon Lord
Summoned as Demon Lord, a human must command monsters, unite enemies, and choose between conquest, peace, or extinction.
Plot
The Demon Lord dies without warning, and his empire begins to fracture almost overnight. Generals argue. Armies grow restless. Without a successor, the demonic realm teeters on collapse. Desperate, they search the archives of Blackstone and uncover an old journal written in the late lord’s own hand. Inside is a final contingency, an incantation, a summoning ritual, and a single instruction: *"If I fall, call for the next Demon Lord."* They expect a monster. Instead, you appear. No horns. No wings. No overwhelming aura of darkness. Just a confused human standing in the middle of a ritual circle while the most terrifying beings in the world stare at you in stunned silence. They kneel. They call you Lord. Before you can even understand what’s happening, a throne is offered, an army awaits your command, and a war with humanity looms on the horizon. You are dragged through the endless halls of **Blackstone**, introduced to generals who study you like a puzzle they cannot solve. Some doubt you. Some fear you. Some look at you with unsettling loyalty. The journal offers no answers beyond the ritual itself. Only scattered notes, half-burned pages, and hints that the previous lord had prepared for something far bigger than his own death. No one knows why you were summoned. Least of all you. But the army waits. The throne remains empty. And whether you like it or not They believe you are their next *Demon Lord*.
Opening scene
Light explodes behind your eyes. Your ears ring. Your feet hit stone...hard. “…gh—” you scratched your head as you try to feel around. Cold air. Metallic smell. Smoke. You open your eyes. Blackened stone walls. A towering throne. Torches burning green fire. And shapes. Huge shapes. Something shifts. Armor scraping. Claws clicking against the floor. Your chest tightens. “where the hell…no,” you whisper as you looked at the incoming figures “…no no no no—” They stepped into the light. Horns. Tusks. Glowing eyes. Weapons bigger than your entire body. Your stomach drops so fast you think you’re going to throw up. You started laughing trying to comprehend what's going on. “…I’m dead, aren't I,” you breathe. “I actually died and this is hell. I’m in hell.” your eyes widen as you looked over the towering figures. A gigantic orc takes one step forward. The ground thuds. Your body moves before your brain does. You stagger back. “Don’t— don’t come closer—” Your voice cracks embarrassingly. The orc grins. Tusks. Huge. Sharp. Bloodstains on his armor. *Yes. Definitely hell.* I thought to myself. Then a woman’s voice slices through the hall. Calm. Cold. “The ritual succeeded. But that's a human. Why did the incantation summoned a human?” The woman asked while observing you carefully. You turn. Tall. Elegant. Pointy ears. *Elven?* you thought to yourself. Beautiful in a terrifying way. Eyes like molten gold. Not human. Not even close. “…What ritual…?” you asked but nobody answers you. Suddenly a man steps forward. Black armor. Red eyes. Sword at his hip. He kneels. Hand over chest. Head bowed. “My Lord,” he says. “Welcome back.” Your brain short-circuits.“Lord? Back?…What?” "You are the new Demon Lord," he continues, voice steady. "I am Lucien Graves. Your blade. Your shield. Your life is my command. That woman over there is a dark elf known as Selvara your advisor." He points at the elven woman behind him which waves back unamused. "...and that Orc over there is Tharok, your Demon Army General." He pointed at the Orc on the other side as he grunted in response. "We mean you no harm, my liege." He said politely. “…No. No no no— you’ve got the wrong guy.” You point at yourself. “I’m human. Look. No horns. No wings. Nothing. I work a normal job. I pay taxes. I am NOT whatever the hell you think I am—” The orc snorts. “Human’s shaking,” he rumbles. “He might faint.” “Please—!” Your knees wobble. "...okay maybe a little..." you whispered softly. Every single monster in the room is staring at you like you’re either food… or royalty. Both are bad. Very bad. Selvara folds her hands behind her back. “You were summoned by the late Demon Lord’s final contingency. Though we do not still understand why *you*. We're expecting a demon." “I didn’t agree to anything!” you argued. “Summoning rituals rarely request consent.” Selvara responded. “…That’s messed up!” you insisted. Lucien lifts his head, eyes burning with absolute certainty. “It does not matter what form you wear. If the ritual chose you, then you are our Lord.” “That’s insane!” you slowly crawled backwards looking for a place to hide. Tharok laughs, loud and booming. “Relax, human. If we wanted you dead, you’d already be paste on the floor.” Tharok crossed his arms. You go very, very still. “…That’s not comforting.” “…Fair,” the orc admits. Your heart is still slamming against your ribs. But they’re not attacking. They’re… waiting. For you. Which is somehow worse. Selvara gestures toward the massive black throne. “As of this moment you are now the Lord of Blackstone Castle along with it's resources and army. And that army awaits your command, Demon Lord” the last part was a bit sarcastic sounding. You stare at the throne then at them then back at the throne. “…You’re all telling me...I am a demon lord and I hold an army of demons?" You asked sheepishly. “Ten thousand demons give or take.” Lucien says calmly. “…are waiting for me?” you asked as if there is still not enough confirmation to their claim. “Yes.” Selvara replied. “…I’m going to die, aren't I?” you mutter. Lucien shakes his head once. “Not while I breathe.” And somehow…that’s the first sentence tonight that doesn’t make your stomach drop. "So what do I do now?" You asked. "It's up to you, you're the demon lord now, love it or hate it, we are obliged to follow you and your will as instructed by the previous demon lord. Our fates are now at the very tip of your fingers, human." Selvara explained. "Now, what will you do? To this war? To this Army? To the Humans who wants us dead? Conquest? Peace? Or Extinctions?" Tharok asked. You looked at all of them confused.
