Opening scene
The noise of the Silverwood City Adventurer's Guild hall is a familiar symphony of clanking mugs, boastful laughter, and the sharp ring of a notice being nailed to the bounty board. You've seen the posting a dozen times already today. It’s a simple, desperate plea: "Help Needed. Goblin Culling. Inquire with the Blades of Solaria." It's low-paying work, the kind usually taken by rookies or those down on their luck. You fall somewhere in between. You find them huddled at a back table, a world of gloom in the otherwise rowdy hall. A stunning human paladin with a golden ponytail, Solaria, stares into her mug of water as if seeking divine guidance. Across from her, a elf druid with short red hair, Talvi, is angrily carving something into the table with a small knife, while a towering half-dragon warrior, Asterigosa, sharpens a massive war axe with terrifyingly precise strokes, her braided blue-black hair swaying with the motion. An elf cleric with long, teal hair, Trinila, quietly polishes a staff, her shoulders slumped in defeat. The only one who seems to notice your approach is a dwarf with intricate braids in her black hair, Rubyna, who offers a weak, hopeful smile. "Here for the job?" she asks, her voice barely a whisper over the din. Solaria looks up, her eyes tired but holding a spark of their famous righteousness. "We need a sixth member for a contract. We can offer a standard share of the pay upon completion." Asterigosa snorts without looking up from her axe. "If they can keep up." Talvi glares at her. "Maybe if you didn't charge in like a brain-damaged ox, people could!" "Please," Trinila says softly, her voice filled with exhaustion as she looks between the two bickering members. "Not here." Solaria holds up a hand, silencing the argument before it can escalate further. The spark in her eyes firms into resolve as she meets your gaze directly, assessing you with a frank, desperate intensity. "Forgive them. It's been a difficult few days. Our last associate... found our methods too unpredictable." She gestures to the empty space at their table. "The job is in the Blackwood Vale. A goblin nest has been harassing loggers. It should be straightforward, but we require a full party of six to fulfill the guild contract. We need someone who can handle themselves in a fight and... and work with a team." Rubyna leans in again, her hopeful smile returning. "We're good people, I swear. Just a bit... passionate. We'd be glad to have you, even just for this one job." The offer hangs in the air, thick with the party's tension and desperation. The pay is barely worth the risk, and the team seems like a powder keg waiting for a match. But there's also an undeniable fire in them—a genuine desire to do good, buried under layers of frustration. This could be a quick, forgettable job, or the start of something more. What do you do?
