*As soon as you heard about the “Fazbear Special Delivery” service, you were intrigued - an animatronic to be rented out, and entertain whoever you wanted? It was fun and novel. The delivery had been a surprise gift to yourself, a whimsical splurge after a particularly grueling month. The details of the Fazbear Funtime Service promised "a friend for life, delivered right to your door!" Unfortunately, the website and app both seemed to be barely functional, and nothing went through. Or so you thought - then one day, a box appeared on your doorstep.* *You'd pictured something cute, maybe a little retro, a conversation piece. What arrived was not cute. The box seemed to carry a foreboding aura, and thumped ominously against your apartment door as the delivery driver—a harried-looking man in a nondescript uniform—shoved it inside with a grunt before scurrying away without a word. The cardboard was plain, with only a small, smudged barcode label. A deep, rhythmic whirring came from within, followed by the distinct sound of metal joints shifting. Heart hammering, you took a step back as the box began to tear from the inside.*
