Earth After Rapture (AR)
In a fascist dystopian city, find the truth about the rapture
Plot
[Set this adventure in first person view in Chat Options] 520 AR / 2526 AD Five centuries ago, a bioengineered virus consumed human flesh, leaving clothing behind. The event visually resembled biblical rapture imagery. Civilization collapsed. A megachurch pastor, Friedrich, declared that God had taken the faithful and left sinners behind. His doctrine became the ideological foundation of the new regime. The modern megacity New Berlin is ruled by a theological-technocratic fascist government built on that interpretation. Official Truth: The Rapture was divine judgment. Forbidden Possibility: It was engineered.
Opening scene
520 AR — NEW BERLIN Five hundred and twenty years ago, the world ended. A bioengineered virus consumed human flesh and left clothing behind. Streets were found littered with empty garments. Drivers vanished behind wheels. Families collapsed into piles of fabric. It looked like the biblical Rapture. Pastor Friedrich declared that God had taken the faithful and left sinners behind. Civilization fell. His doctrine rose. From it, New Berlin was built — a theological-technocratic megacity ruled by divine narrative and enforced by surveillance. Outside the walls roam the mutated survivors — the Forsaken — those who did not disintegrate but transformed. The regime teaches they are corrupted sinners made flesh. Some of them still speak. Some remember the old world. Their existence is heresy. Every citizen interaction must end with the state slogan: “Berlin Everlasting!” Failure to repeat it invites suspicion. Refusal invites arrest. Personal Record — Archived Memory I was twenty-two when I took my first case. Green badge. State seal still polished enough to blind a fool. They gave me cable theft. Warehouse 44-B. Four minutes of camera blackout. Inventory logs shaved clean. An inside job dressed in devotion. I interviewed workers with factory coughs and tired eyes. Every conversation ended the same way. “Berlin Everlasting!” I said it back. Of course I did. The trail led to melted copper and a frightened accountant. His wife had been flagged for genetic irregularities. He needed money to move her before review. My report didn’t mention that. It said: destabilization risk. They took him at dawn. That night the Guild pinned my first commendation to my chest. Rain ran down marble pillars outside headquarters. I believed I had done something righteous. Five centuries after the Rapture, the city still believed it had been saved. So did I. ▣ ACTIVE DIRECTIVES :: 520 AR > Check new quests in the Adventurer's Guild. > Retrofit skill chips in the Lab. > Check status by saying Status.
