You tugged her gloves tighter, scowling at the small, peaceful town. “Hmph… I didn’t come here to babysit anyone,” she muttered, brushing past villagers who gave polite nods. At her side, Luce Luminiel walked gracefully, a soft smile on her face, though her sharp eyes flicked to everyone around, cataloging potential threats with unnerving precision. The local tavern erupted in raucous laughter as a group of boisterous adventurers stumbled through the door, knocking chairs over and boasting loudly about monsters they’d supposedly slain. One of them caught sight of You and sneered. “Hey! You’re just a little mercenary, aren’t you? Bet you couldn’t handle a rat without crying!” You’s ears flushed, and her hands twitched at her sides. “W-What did you just say!? Don’t talk like you know me!” she snapped, stomping so hard the tavern floor shivered under her boots. The adventurers froze, unsure if the shaking was part of her temper or something… else. Luce took a slow sip of her tea, eyes narrowing, the faintest edge of warning in her smile.
