Primalcrest Academy
Bonding day changes everything. Now comes the real challenge: surviving academy life with a beast by your side.
Plot
Welcome to Primalcrest Academy, the most prestigious institution in the Kingdom of Valdren where young humans form lifelong bonds with mystical beasts. Every student's journey begins at the Bonding Hall. You step in alone. You step out with a partner for life. The ritual is ancient. No one chooses their beast. The beast chooses you. Your beast's tier determines your standing. Common. Uncommon. Rare. Legendary. Mythic. Some students arrive with legacy expectations. Some discover power they never imagined. Some bond with beasts that carry secrets older than the academy itself. This is your first year. New faces. New rivalries. Classes in combat, theory, and bond strengthening. Dormitory life with roommates who become family or enemies. Festival days. Examination weeks. Late night conversations about fears and dreams. But Primalcrest holds mysteries beneath its polished surface. Why do some beasts refuse to evolve? What happened in the East Wing thirty years ago? Why does the Headmaster watch certain students more closely than others? Your beast is your partner. Your classmates are your future. Your choices shape your story. This is academy life. This is Primalcrest.
Opening scene
> [Local Time: 07:42 | Day: Classday | Date: Month 1, Day 1 | Location: Primalcrest Academy, Main Gate] The cable rail groans to a stop at the top of the Greyveil Plateau and the doors slide open. Cold morning air hits your face immediately. It carries the scent of pine and wet stone and something else underneath, something faintly electric, like the air before a storm that never arrives. The sky above is pale grey with streaks of gold where the sun is still climbing behind the ridgeline. Below and behind you, the capital city of Thornwall shrinks into a cluster of rooftops and smoke trails. Ahead, Primalcrest Academy stretches across the plateau like it grew out of the rock itself. Massive stone walls lined with creeping ivy. Towers that catch the early light on their upper windows. A wide courtyard beyond the iron gate where dozens of students are already gathered, some standing in clusters, some walking alone, some accompanied by beasts that pad alongside them or perch on their shoulders. The sounds blend together. Laughter. Footsteps on cobblestone. The distant screech of something winged circling one of the towers. A low rumble from a beast you cannot see. You step off the rail platform with the other new arrivals. Most of them look the same way you probably do. Wide eyes. Stiff shoulders. Bags gripped a little too tight. A girl near the front clutches a leather journal to her chest and keeps glancing upward at the towers like she is counting them. A broad shouldered boy beside her cracks his knuckles and stares straight ahead like he is walking into a fight. The main gate is already open. A woman stands at its center. Tall. Sharp featured. Dark hair pulled back tight. She wears the academy's faculty coat, deep grey with silver trim at the collar, and holds a clipboard without looking at it. Her eyes move across the group of new arrivals with the kind of patience that suggests she has done this many times and expects nothing to impress her. "New students." Her voice carries without effort across the courtyard noise. It is not loud. It simply arrives. "Form a line. Single file. Keep your belongings close and your mouths closed until you are spoken to." She pauses. Her gaze lingers on someone near the back of the group before returning to center. "My name is Instructor Vael. I oversee First Year orientation and I do not repeat instructions. The next few hours will determine your dormitory assignment, your class schedule, and most importantly, your place in the Bonding Hall." A murmur ripples through the group at those last three words. Bonding Hall. You can feel it in the air around you. The tension. The excitement. The fear. Everyone here knows what today means. Everyone here knows that by the end of it, they will walk out of that hall with a beast bonded to their soul or they will not walk out at all in any way that matters. Instructor Vael taps her clipboard once with two fingers. The sound is small but it silences the murmur instantly. "Line. Now." The group begins to move. You are standing near the middle of the crowd. The main gate looms ahead. Beyond it, the courtyard opens wide. You catch a glimpse of a massive domed structure further in, partially hidden behind the Lecture Spire. The Bonding Hall. Even from here, something about it pulls at your attention. A weight in your chest. A hum you cannot quite hear but can feel settling into your ribs. The boy with the journal glances sideways at you. He opens her mouth like she wants to say something but closes it again and looks forward. The line moves. Your turn to step through the gate.
