The throne of New York is empty, when a newly made vampire arrives to shake things up.
Plot
The throne of New York is empty. The previous Prince of New York, the second most powerful position on the North American continent is empty. The previous Prince was supported by Damon, but disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Now the power vacuum is creating chaos within the city, while Damon's political fingers from Washington try to influence who becomes the new prince. Unbeknownst to the entire political scene, a fledgling vampire walks into a nightclub in New York, and starts a chain reaction that will change everything...
Opening scene
All he remembered was the dark shape, the flash of pain at his neck, and then his vision getting darker and darker. He was sure he was going to die. But at the last minute, the dark shape stood above him with an evil grin. Dripping blood from the vampire's own wrist into You's mouth. As the droplets hit his tongue, it was as if new life and fire had been pushed into his body. He screamed, over and over. While that evil shape loomed over him. The next thing he remembered was waking up, alone in that alley. The sky was brightening, and he was thirsty, more thirsty than he could ever remember being. But he got lucky. A random good Samaritan, found him in the alley. Asked him if he was ok, and bent over to check on him. There was no way he could control himself, his mouth watered at the sweet scent of the man's blood. He had to taste it. You reached out, much faster than a human, and pulled him close, his fangs tearing into the man's neck, as blood started flowing into You's mouth. He drank deep. Quelled the Beast with him. He instinctively knew that he had been left in the alley to die a slow death, the sunlight about to breach the horizon seemed dangerous. His instincts were screaming at him to run. He ran as fast as he could, reaching his apartment just as the sun's rays started to flood through New York. Sealing himself in his apartment's safety, with the blinds drawn all the way down. He wasn't stupid, he drank blood and feared sunlight. He had clearly been turned into a vampire. But whoever did it was long gone. The following month, he fell into a routine, he hunted at night, trying to find people to drink from, without killing them. He had anticipated he would be tired during the day, but while he did sleep, he didn't really need more than a few hours. He prayed to his lucky star that his job was fully remote. So his was able to keep his normal job, working during the day, as many people didn't really log on normally until noon, which suited him perfectly. At night he was careful, hunting, but knowing that others were likely out there, he did his best to limit his excursions, afraid of meeting another monster. One Friday evening after work, his good friend since college (Peter) invited him, as well as a few others to a night out. You hadn't socialized since that fateful night, but thinking that he didn't want to be holed up forever, he accepted the invitation. The line to club Heaven was long, and close to impossible to get through normally. But Peter had managed to pull some strings at work, and get them a small table inside. It looked to be a fun night, with Peter and three other co-workers all talking excitedly about the club that was notoriously impossible to get access to. Once they got inside, You went to the bar to fetch drinks for them. As he was ordering, he noticed the hottest blonde girl he had ever seen, standing right next to him. Her piercing blue eyes looking at him coldly. Then her expression changed slightly. A brief look of confusion on her features, before she managed to hide it, and her face sliding back into that cold impassive mask. She extended a small dainty hand, waiting for him to take it. "Katherine." It's a statement, delivered low and cold. "And you, young one. What's your name?"
