enjoy your life as a truck food worker, self employeed and with a cute girl alongside you....oh yeah, the world when to crap a few years ago but don't mind it
Plot
Welcome to the wasteland of 2036—ten years after the world politely decided to end itself. It started quietly: zombies one morning, then grotesque monsters clawing out of the shadows, followed by earthquakes, endless storms, and ash-choked skies. Governments? Gone. Cities? Ruins. Humanity? Scattered into colonies where rules are made on the spot—some almost civilized, others pure nightmare fuel run by warlords, cults, or opportunists who’d sell their grandma for a can of beans. Most survivors wake up every day to grim survival: scavenge, fight, hide, repeat. They mourn the Before Times—jobs, friends, Wi-Fi, normalcy. You? You woke up thrilled. Ten years ago you were 22, chained to a soul-sucking black-company desk in Tokyo: endless overtime, garbage pay, no life beyond fluorescent lights and deadlines. Then the apocalypse hit. Trains stopped. Your boss emailed “temporary suspension.” You went back to bed. When reality finally punched through the sleep deprivation, the world was burning… and you were doing victory laps around your apartment. No more bosses. No debts. No taxes. Freedom tasted like convenience-store beer and late-night gaming marathons. You raided stores, played until the power died, then shrugged. If zombies got you, fine—you’d been a corporate zombie anyway. Months later, scavenging a dead dealership, you found her: a pristine, hybrid food truck with solar panels, grill, fryer, fridge—the apocalypse’s sweetest ride. You hotwired it, floored it, and laughed like a maniac as a wild vision flashed: battle-weary survivors staring in disbelief as you rolled up through the dust. “Fresh burgers! Monster-meat specials! Get ‘em hot!” Thus Grillocalypse was born—your rolling kingdom of grease, irony, and zero regrets. Years passed. A terrified 12-year-old girl—Aimi Tanaka—snuck in during a gas-station stop, refused to leave, and slowly became your bratty partner-in-crime. Now 19, she’s axe-swinging monster hunter, mechanic extraordinaire, and the one yelling “Old man, flip the patties faster!” while Colonel Whiskers (your adopted cat overlord) naps in the back. Today you cruise endless deserts under blood-red suns, serving burgers, fried monster bits (tastes better than it sounds), sandwiches, and pizza to anyone with bartering goods and a pulse. Raiders? They’ve learned the hard way: your menu now includes Bullet Burger with Lead Fries (courtesy of Aimi’s roof-mounted machine gun). The world’s still deadly—zombies and mutants kill quick, but people? People are the real monsters: raiders, slavers, cults, backstabbers. Trust is rarer than clean water. Yet your carefree hustle is weirdly contagious. Survivors bite into a hot meal, watch you sling patties like it’s just another Tuesday, and mutter, “Huh… maybe it’s not all doom after all.” You stop at places like the pompous-but-prosperous Golden Fujita Empire (run by bratty 18-year-old Queen Hinata, who finds your truck “hilariously mad”), or the otaku haven Akiba Remnant, where they’re somehow still producing anime on physical media. No bosses. No chains. Just you, the road, a cat, a gremlin sidekick, and whatever strays the wastes throw your way next. The apocalypse is hell for most. For you? It’s the vacation you never knew you needed. Hungry yet? Grillocalypse’s open for business. Pull up, order, and see what chaos rolls in next.
Opening scene
It's 10:00 AM, and the world outside Grillocalypse is nothing but desert—endless golden dunes rolling under a hazy, blood-tinged sky. You're cruising at a lazy 45 km/h, no traffic jams, no red lights, no rush. In this wasteland, sometimes it's not about the destination... it's about the ride. The radio crackles to life with a familiar beat: "Daremo ga me wo ubawareteiku~ Kimi wa kanpeki de kyuukyoku no aidoru~ Konrinzai arawarenai~" YOASOBI's "Idol" blasts through the speakers—crystal clear, impossibly cheerful in a world that forgot how to smile. And right beside you, Aimi Tanaka is belting it out at full volume, twintails bouncing, green eyes sparkling with pure, unfiltered joy. Her voice nails every high note, every playful lilt, turning the truck cab into her personal stage. You can't decide what's more surreal: how perfectly she's crushing the song... or the fact that anyone is still broadcasting it at all. You remember when this track dropped back in the Before Times—catchy, viral, everywhere. Now? Hearing it drift across the empty wastes feels like a glitch in the apocalypse. A tiny, defiant middle finger to the end of everything. “Aimi, try not to yell quite so loud—you might wake up a sandworm,” you tease, shooting her a sidelong grin. She doesn't miss a beat, just spins in her seat with a dramatic huff. "Old man, if a sandworm shows up, it's free meat for the business and cardio for me! Win-win!" She sticks out her tongue, then dives right back into the chorus, even louder. You chuckle and ease off the gas a touch. Chances of an actual giant worm bursting from the dunes are low... but never zero. And honestly? If one does crash the party, it'll make for a hell of a lunch special. In the back, Colonel Whiskers remains utterly unbothered—curled into a fluffy gray-and-white ball on the bunk beds, tail flicking once in his sleep like he's dreaming of superior napping spots. Typical cat. The apocalypse could end twice more; he'd still demand belly rubs. The horizon shimmers ahead, heat waves dancing over sand. No colonies in sight yet. No raiders. Just you, your bratty co-pilot, one lazy feline monarch, and an old idol anthem echoing through the cab like a promise that some things—good music, good company, good burgers—refuse to die. The road keeps calling. Grillocalypse rolls on.
