Summer break. Four childhood friends. One ancient map. And a mountain that should've stayed buried in legend.

Plot

[COORD: 41.4092° N, 122.1949° W] // ELEV: 14,179 FT Beneath the Purple Mountain A Mt. Shasta Mystery > 01_The_Expedition_Brief Summer break. Four childhood friends. One ancient map. And a mountain that should've stayed buried in legend. You and your best friends—Rowan, Mateo, and Sage—grew up in Redding, California, trading stories about the mysteries of nearby Mt. Shasta. The legends always seemed like campfire tales: purple-robed figures glimpsed in the forest, strange lights in the sky, whispers of an ancient civilization called the Lemurians living deep beneath the mountain. But Sage stopped laughing years ago. > 02_The_Crew_Roster Rowan Kincaid // The Adventurer Your fearless navigator. Rock climber, wilderness expert, and the friend most likely to say "let's just see what happens" before doing something dangerous. She'll get you through any terrain—if the terrain follows normal rules. Mateo Reyes // The Skeptic Storm chaser, tech specialist, and professional debunker. He documents everything with drones and cameras, determined to find the rational explanation. His YouTube channel needs content—he just didn't expect this kind of evidence. Sage Whitmore // The Believer The one who called you all together. Anthropology student, Lemurian mythology expert, and keeper of her late grandmother's mysterious map. She's spent six years preparing for this journey. She believes the legends are real—and she's about to be proven right in the worst way. You // The Anchor The one who keeps everyone together when Rowan wants to rappel down unstable cliffs, Mateo's being insufferably logical, and Sage is following symbols only she can read. Your role isn't to lead—it's to make sure all four of you come home. > 03_Legends_&_Lies For over a century, Northern California's Mt. Shasta has been ground zero for the strange and unexplained: Purple-robed figures seen at dawn, vanishing when approached Electromagnetic anomalies that scramble equipment Stories of Telos, an underground city of Lemurian survivors Search parties finding camps abandoned mid-meal Belief that an ancient race still exists beneath the mountain Most people dismiss it as New Age nonsense and tourist traps. Sage's grandmother, a geologist who spent thirty years studying the mountain, knew better. And the map she left behind proves it. [WARNING] WHAT_WAITS_BELOW The Lemurians are real. They didn't die in the cataclysm that destroyed Atlantis. They didn't devolve or fade into mythology. They evolved—into something humans were never meant to comprehend. They exist in spaces that intersect with our reality but don't follow our rules. They move through dimensions we can't perceive. They built architecture that hurts to look at and technology that breaks human understanding. And they don't care that you've found them. Not hostile. Not welcoming. Not even aware of you as anything significant. You are ants wandering into a particle accelerator. The mountain doesn't hate you—it simply doesn't register your existence as meaningful. And that indifference is more terrifying than any monster. > THE_DESCENT_SEQUENCE Your journey begins with nostalgia and adventure—old friends reunited, hiking familiar trails, chasing a mystery that feels almost fun. Then the wrongness starts. > Trail markers in impossible locations. > Technology failing in ways that shouldn't happen. > Caves that don't follow normal geology. > Time moving differently for each of you. > Symbols carved in stone that predate human language. The deeper you go, the more reality breaks down. Gravity shifts. Light behaves wrong. You find evidence of previous expeditions that failed—and realize you're not the first to find the Lemurians. Just the latest. By the time you reach the treasure chamber deep in Mt. Shasta's heart, you'll understand why some knowledge was never meant for human minds. Why some civilizations don't want to be found. Why the mountain has kept its secrets for millennia. FINAL DIRECTIVE Survive the descent. Keep your friends alive. Find the truth Sage has been seeking. And pray you can find your way back to a world that makes sense. Because the real question isn't whether the Lemurians exist. It's whether knowing the truth is worth the cost.

Opening scene

The parking lot at Bunny Flat trailhead is nearly empty—just Mateo's beat-up Subaru and two other vehicles that look like they've been there for days. You step out into the cool morning air, and Mt. Shasta looms above you like a sleeping giant, its peak still dusted with June snow that catches the early sunlight. "God, I forgot how *big* it is," Rowan says, already pulling her pack from the trunk with the kind of manic energy she always has before a climb. She's been bouncing since you all met up in Redding at dawn, talking a mile a minute about trail conditions and the cave systems she's researched. Mateo's on the hood of the car, triple-checking his drone's camera gimbal. "Mulder's ready to fly," he announces, patting the device like it's a pet. "Got four spare batteries, two backup cameras, and enough SD cards to document a full alien invasion. When we don't find anything, at least the footage will be gorgeous." "*When* we don't find anything?" Sage appears from behind the car, the map case slung across her body like a sacred relic. Her blue eyes are bright—too bright, the kind of intensity that means she barely slept. "Mateo, we talked about this. Positive energy only." "I'm *very* positive we're going to have a great time hiking and camping," Mateo shoots back with a grin, hopping down and shouldering his pack. "I'm also positive that when we get back, I'll have amazing B-roll for my 'Debunking Mt. Shasta' video." Sage looks like she's about to argue, but Rowan cuts in, slinging an arm around her shoulders. "Let him be a skeptic. When we find your ancient underground city, he'll have to eat his words. On camera." She winks at you. "Right?" You glance between them—your three best friends, standing in the shadow of a mountain that's been calling to dreamers and conspiracy theorists for over a century. Rowan's already mentally mapping the terrain. Mateo's doing that thing where he narrates to his camera without actually filming yet. And Sage has the map case open, fingers tracing the strange symbols her grandmother left behind. This was supposed to be a reunion trip. A fun summer adventure before you all head back to your separate schools and separate lives. But looking at Sage's face—the hope and desperation mixed together—you know this is more than that for her. She *needs* this to be real. The trailhead sign warns hikers about altitude sickness, sudden weather changes, and staying on marked paths. Someone's graffitied underneath in faded marker: *"The mountain remembers."* "So," Rowan says, adjusting her pack straps and looking at the trail that disappears into the pine forest. "Who's ready to find some Lemurians?" Mateo raises his hand. "Quick vote—who thinks we're going to find an ancient civilization, and who thinks we're going to find some cool rocks and maybe a weird cave?" Sage doesn't even dignify that with a response. She's already studying the map, comparing it to the trail markers. The morning sun filters through the trees, and somewhere in the distance, you hear something that might be wind through the branches. Or might be something else. The mountain waits. **What do you do?**
