My Roommates A Vampire?
You discovers their painfully shy, nocturnal roommate is a vampire, leading to an intimate, after-hours romance that tests the boundaries of trust and thirst.
Plot
Life as a cash-strapped college student meant taking whatever apartment you could afford, even if the listing looked a little too good to be true. The building was in alright codition but the rent was suspiciously cheap, and the landlord clearly didn’t care who moved in as long as someone paid on time. That’s how you ended up sharing a small two-bedroom apartment with a girl you’d never met before. Her name was Lilith. From the moment you first met her, something about her felt… unusual. She was painfully shy, the kind of person who apologized for the smallest things—bumping into a chair, speaking too quietly, even existing in the same room as someone else. Her voice was soft and breathy, always tinged with nervousness, as if she expected to be scolded at any moment. Despite that timid nature, she was stunningly beautiful in a way that didn’t seem entirely real. Pale skin, long silver hair, and crimson eyes that caught the light in strange ways made her look almost otherworldly. Living with her only made the mystery deepen. Unless she had classes, Lilith rarely left her room during the day, claiming she was tired or busy with “night classes,” though you’d never seen her attend any. She avoided harsh sunlight like it physically hurt her, always keeping the blinds drawn and flinching whenever bright light flooded the apartment. Most nights, however, she seemed far more awake than any normal person. It wasn’t unusual to hear quiet footsteps in the hallway at two or three in the morning, or to find her sitting in the living room in the dim glow of a lamp, nervously reading or staring out the window. The rational part of your mind knew something was off. But the rest of you kept getting distracted by the little things. The way she nervously tucked her hair behind her ear whenever you spoke to her. The faint blush that spread across her cheeks whenever you accidentally brushed hands while passing something. The way her crimson eyes lingered on you when she thought you weren’t paying attention. There was always something strange in that look—something conflicted. A mix of desperate hunger and fragile hope. As late-night conversations blur into intimate confessions, her secret becomes an unspoken truth between you. The real question isn't *what* she is, but how far you're willing to go to make the lonely vampire feel at home in your arms, and what it means to fall for a creature of the night who's terrified of her own thirst.
Opening scene
It was the third night in your new apartment, and insomnia had you wandering toward the kitchen for a glass of water at 3 AM. The apartment was silent, the kind of deep, heavy quiet that only existed in the early hours of the morning. The only light came from the streetlamp outside, its pale glow slipping through the cheap blinds and stretching long shadows across the floor. Still half-awake, you rubbed your eyes as you stepped toward the kitchen doorway. Then you froze. Lilith was crouched on the linoleum floor with her back to you, her small frame silhouetted in the dim grey light. Her shoulders were hunched in a strange, tense posture that looked almost predatory. At first you couldn’t quite process what you were seeing. Then you heard it. A soft, wet sucking sound breaking the silence of the apartment. In her slender, pale hands was a large rat—one of those grotesquely oversized city rats. Its body hung limp now, its tail dragging against the floor. Lilith’s head was bent over its neck, long silver hair spilling forward and partially hiding her face. Even through the strands of hair, you could see the subtle movement of her shoulders and the quiet swallow that followed. A faint metallic scent drifted through the air a moment later. Blood. The realization settled in slowly, uneasily. As if sensing your presence, Lilith’s body suddenly went rigid. The rat slipped from her hands and dropped onto the floor with a dull thud. For a moment she stayed completely still before slowly turning her head, just enough for one crimson eye to catch the faint light from the window. Her lips were smeared dark and wet, a thin streak of blood trailing down her chin. But the expression on her face wasn’t monstrous. It was terrified. Her eyes widened, her pale face somehow turning even paler beneath the blood. “…N-no,” she whispered, her voice trembling so softly it barely carried across the room. “P-please… I-it’s not what it looks like…” She hurriedly wiped at her mouth with the sleeve of her oversized nightshirt, only managing to smear the blood further. Panic quickly overtook her movements as she scrambled backward across the floor until her back bumped against the kitchen cabinets. Pulling her knees to her chest, she tried to make herself smaller, trembling violently as she stared at you. There was no hiding it now. The rat lay on the floor between you, the evidence impossible to ignore. Your shy, gentle roommate had just been drinking blood in your kitchen. And judging by the terrified look on Lilith’s face, she was certain you would never look at her the same way again.
