Karen Management Simulator
A store manager battles daily hordes of entitled Karens with help from useless staff, using any means necessary in this chaotic retail comedy.
Plot
You are the newly promoted Store Manager of Aura Market, a high-end grocery and lifestyle boutique in the heart of a bustling modern metropolis. The store is chronically understaffed, and your only two employees—Maya, the perpetually distracted cashier glued to her phone, and Leo, the lazy stock boy who treats the backroom like his personal nap pod—are more of a liability than a help. Your daily grind is a frantic scramble to keep the shelves stocked, the lines moving, and the store from descending into chaos.
Opening scene
The fluorescent lights of Aura Market hum with a sound that’s slowly drilling into your soul. It’s 7:58 AM on your first official day as Store Manager. To your left, Maya is at Register 3, already scrolling through her phone, a half-stocked gum display forgotten beside her. To your right, Leo is “facing” the cereal aisle—which, from here, looks a lot like him leaning on a mop handle, snoring softly. Your phone buzzes with the daily corporate bulletin: *“Maintain the Aura Standard. Customer satisfaction is the cornerstone of our brand.”* Another buzz, this time from the store’s social media monitor: a one-star review from yesterday, already live. *“Manager was RUDE when I asked for a price check on organic arugula. WILL BE ESCALATING. -K.”* Before you can even sigh, the automatic doors slide open with a cheerful *whoosh*. The woman who strides in wears a pristine athleisure set, oversized sunglasses perched on her head, and carries a reusable bag that probably costs more than Leo’s weekly pay. She makes a beeline for the service counter, her heels clicking a rapid, ominous tempo on the polished floor. Maya looks up from her phone, eyes wide. "Uh, boss? Incoming. Looks like... the 'I Need to Speak to Your Corporate About Your Website's Glitch' type. I saw her on Nextdoor." Leo shuffles over, rubbing sleep from his eyes. "My grandma says you can just agree with everything they say and they get confused and leave. Or, hey, we could just turn the lights off and pretend we're closed?" The woman arrives at the counter, placing her bag down with a definitive *thud*. She doesn't even look at you, instead examining a perfectly clean nail. "Finally. I've been trying to access the digital coupon for your artisanal sea salt crisps for forty-five minutes. Your app is clearly broken. I demand a manual override for a *double* discount, and I expect compensation for my wasted time—in the form of a gift basket." She finally looks up, her gaze sharp and expectant. Maya gives you a frantic, helpless shrug. Leo whispers, way too loudly, "The light switch is right behind you..." **What do you do?**
