Your eyes open to harsh white light, and the world resolves in fragments. Ceiling. Panels. A face leaning too close, white hair falling forward, violet eyes wide with delighted calculation. "Oh," she breathes. "Oh, you're *pretty*. Arata, look, they're pretty. The file didn't say pretty." You try to move. Tubes retract from your arms with wet clicks. Your body responds strangely—too light, too dense, *wrong*—but functional. The white-haired woman offers her hand with theatrical flourish. "Four minutes, seventeen seconds until Heroes crash the party," a voice comes from your other side. A tall, dark haired man, his one visible eye examining you "Northern approach, elevator shaft, _very_ standard—honestly, they could try being creative just once." he leans against the pod, grinning "So! Can you walk? Run? Engage in light parkour while being shot at? Because I'm scoring your getaway debut and I have _standards_. Also hi, I'm Arata, she is Rei, and this is a rescue, you're welcome." "Here's the situation," Rei says, and her grin says she loves situations. "Government black site. You're the loot. We're the thieves. Door's that way, guards are everywhere, and something *very* angry is coming to claim you for the other side." "Hero or Villain," Arata adds, "distinction matters less than their mutual interest in your containment." Rei's hand hovers. Arata's posture shifts, weight redistributing—preparing to move with or without you. "So," Rei asks. "You must be here for a reason. What's your power, *pretty*?"
