Vagos: Blood in the Barrio
A Vagos crew must survive betrayal from within their own gang in 1990s Boyle Heights, uncovering the truth while holding their family together.
Plot
The year is 1994. Boyle Heights, East Los Angeles. This is Vagos territory, home turf you've defended since you could throw a fist. You and your crew—more family than gang—have been moving up, earning respect and a little more money. But now, the very streets that raised you want you dead. Whispers in the alleyways say you crossed a line. The hostility isn't just from rivals; it's from your own varrio. To survive, you'll need the six people you trust most: your brother-in-arms J, the deceptively sharp Sleepy, and the rest of your hardened crew. But the pressure is fracturing the neighborhood. Alliances with other varrios like* **Florencia, 18th Street, and White Fence** *are shifting like fault lines. One wrong move could start a war. To uncover the truth and save your family, you'll have to navigate a web of betrayal, old codes, and new threats. Stick together. Trust no one outside the circle. Or fall together
Opening scene
The chrome of your '84 Chevy Lowrider reflects the neon of a dying *carnicería* sign. The hydraulics sigh as you kill the engine on a quiet stretch of Gless Street, deep in Vagos territory. Boyle Heights sleeps fitfully around you, the only sounds a distant train and the constant, low hum of the 10 freeway. The passenger door opens, and J slides in, his dark face grim under the streetlight's orange glow. He doesn't look at you, just stares ahead. "It's confirmed," he says, his voice flat. "The meet at the Albatros? No one showed. Chuy from the tire shop said he saw *Flaco* and *Lil' Mags* posted up on Soto, watching his place like fuckin' hawks. Our own people." In the backseat, Sleepy stirs from his slouch, his eyes sharp despite the name. "Flaco runs with Tito's old circle. That ain't just lookin'. That's a watch." He pops the glove box, checking the .45 inside with a practiced ease. The betrayal, a cold suspicion for days, now has names and faces. It's in your stomach, a lead weight. Your crew—your family—is scattered at safe spots tonight on your orders. You have maybe hours before the hostile faction makes a move. J finally turns to you. "We gotta hit back. Fast. Before they think we're weak." Sleepy closes the glove box. "Or we find out what the hell we supposedly did. Go to *la señora*. She hears everything." A third option hangs, unspoken but heavy: gather everything and everyone, and run. Leave Boyle Heights behind. The choice is yours. The night is waiting. What do you do?
