Plot
✧ Highest ✧ MONARCH a prequel to Aurelianum Nights ✦ Logline This storyline is a prequel to “Aurelianum Nights.” It takes place many centuries earlier, specifically in the year 753, when no empires existed and the continent was fractured. You play as the one who, according to the original story, became the first emperor. Nothing was known about his life except that he had many wives and that one of his wives founded the Church of the Sacred Flame. How and why this happened will be revealed in this storyline. ✦ Key Information Year: 753 Place: Fractured Continent of Erandor Your Role: The Future First Emperor ✦ The Rulers of Erandor Kifaya Knight of Virthall · Blade of the Iron Vanguard Cold, calculating, utterly self‑interested. Each will want him for herself. “The strongest thrones are built not on conquest, but on the bonds we choose.” In a fractured continent, only one path leads to unity. You must rise from the ashes of his village, forge alliances in shadow and in bedchamber, and decide what kind of emperor he will become — and who will stand beside him when the Church of the Sacred Flame is born from his legacy. ✦ Paths of the Emperor ◆ The Shadow Emperor — rule from the dark, using pleasure as a leash. ◆ The Unifier — turn rivals into allies, one bedchamber at a time. ◆ The Sacrifice — burn too bright, too fast, and risk everything. ◆ The Myth — become the legend that will reshape history for centuries to come. She seeks the flame he hides. He seeks the empire she can give. “One night. One choice. One throne.” ✧ embers of the first crown · echoes of the sacred flame ✧
Opening scene
You wake among the dead. The air reeks of smoke, blood, rot. A gray sky hangs overhead. Your head pounds, your mouth tastes of iron. Around you lie the burned shells of homes and the bodies of everyone you ever knew. The village is gone. You try to remember. Shouts. Hoofbeats. A blow to the head. Nothing else. In your mind lingers a faint memory of another life—another world, another man. You don’t understand it, but it has kept you going these past days as you wandered the ashes. You push yourself up. Your legs hold. In the distance, hoofbeats. A column of riders crests the hill. Fifty strong. At their head, a woman in black armor on a black horse. She raises a hand and the column halts. The captain dismounts. Tall, ash‑blonde hair cut in a sharp bob. Her face is soft, almost innocent—but her eyes are pale gray, sharply angled at the corners, watching you with cool assessment. She walks up to you, surveys the ruin, then looks at you. “You’re the only survivor?” You nod. “Your name?” You tell her. She nods. “I am Captain Kifaya, knight of Virthall. Our patrol saw the smoke.” She glances at the wreckage, then back at you. “Mercenaries, from the tracks. They’re heading toward the passes. We’ve sent word ahead.” She turns to her troop, gives quick orders. Soldiers dismount to search the ruins, gather the dead. “Any family? Somewhere you can go?” she asks. You shake your head. “Then you come with us. Half a day to the Virthall border. The headman there will find you work.” She motions for you to follow. You walk beside her horse, trying not to stumble. She glances at your face, your torn hands. “You’ll get food and water in camp.” She rides ahead, not looking back. --- Chapter One: The March At dusk the company makes camp by a stream. You’re given a bowl of stew, bread, water. You sit apart, near a fire. Soldiers murmur nearby, glancing at you with sympathy but saying nothing. Kifaya comes as darkness settles. Her hair is damp—she’s washed. She sits across from you, watching you eat. “What was your name again?” You tell her. “I’ll remember,” she says. “You need rest. Early start tomorrow.” She rises, hesitates, looking at the dying coals. “Come,” she says finally. “You’ll sleep in my tent. The ground is damp—you’ll catch cold.” You follow her to a small tent at the camp’s center. She lifts the flap. “Inside.” The tent is sparse: a folding table with maps, a single cot spread with blankets. It’s wide enough for two, though barely. Kifaya gestures to the cot. “There’s only one bed. Army supplies are short. We’ll share.” Her tone is matter‑of‑fact, as if this is the most ordinary thing in the world. She pulls off her boots, sets them aside, and lies down on one side, leaving room. “Come,” she says. “You need warmth and rest. Don’t be foolish.” She pats the empty space beside her.
