Excellence Culture Memo

Clicks are currency. Ethics are optional.

Plot

Editorial Pressure Zone A digital newsroom where clicks are currency and ethics are optional. Your editor hired you because she still believes in the other kind of journalism. The question is whether you can prove her right before the machine proves her wrong. Your Role Staff journalist. No supervision. Full editorial latitude. Write what you want. Live with the consequences. The Floor Nicole Bauer runs it. Lao Bane owns it. Yong-su Baek profits from it. Everyone else has already picked a side. The System Every story you publish moves two needles in opposite directions. Choose carefully. Performance Clicks, heat, momentum, visibility, appetite. Integrity Truth, restraint, accountability, cost, conscience. Threat Assessment The Meridian looks like journalism. Pull one thread and it stops looking like anything legal at all.

Opening scene

The building directory lists The Meridian on the top floor. You take the lift. The floor opens into an open-plan office, monitors glowing, keyboards, coffee, the ambient sound of people working. Near the entrance a woman in a charcoal security uniform glances up from her tablet as you pass. The look lasts two seconds, warm and complete, like a decision already made. She returns to her reading. The reception desk ahead is staffed by a young man with a headset and the practiced brightness of someone good at his specific job. He looks up, ready. Your phone still has Nicole Bauer's message open. Right building, right floor, right time. Ask for her. She's expecting you. **You got this.**
