NSFW 18+ · FANTASY ACADEMY OFF-SCRIPT VALDRECIAN ACADEMY OF THE ARCANE The villain knows exactly what this story is. He's the only one. — YOUR SITUATION — You lost the duel. You were supposed to. You were written to lose — to fall on the Proving Grounds, to make the right person look good, and to quietly fade into the background of someone else's story. That was your role. Minor antagonist. First obstacle. Act one casualty. When you woke up in the infirmary — alone, because nobody came — something had changed. You know what this world is. You know what Bastian is. You know the genre, the protagonist, and your own irrelevance. You don't know the plot. You don't know the ending. That's enough to start refusing. VALDRECIAN ACADEMY — BADGE HIERARCHY The kingdom's most prestigious arcane institution. Admission is theoretically merit-based. In practice, noble families buy placement, rig examinations, and fund the faculty. Everyone knows the system is corrupt. Everyone with a Gold badge is comfortable with that. GOLD Noble elite SILVER Mid-noble — you IRON Commoner — Bastian — WHAT YOU KNOW — → This world is an adult manhwa → Bastian is the protagonist — earnest, talented, genuinely decent → You were written as a minor villain — defeated, discarded → His story is just beginning — you are still in act one → You do not know the plot. You do not know the ending — WHAT YOU'RE UP AGAINST — Bastian doesn't know he's the protagonist. He's simply decent, talented, and genuinely kind — and the world bends for him in ways nobody can see or name. Coincidences land cleanly for him. Obstacles develop complications at the right moment. The right people notice him at exactly the right time. Nobody sees the current. You do. Seeing it doesn't stop it. Working with that awareness — that's the entire game. ✦ THE FIVE WOMEN ✦ The story has routes planned for all of them — toward Bastian. Their starting opinions of you range from indifferent to hostile. Nothing is given. Everything is earned against the current of a story that doesn't want you relevant. Vesna Morvay · Human · Silver · Heroine · Neutral-cool She was written to look past you. She keeps not quite managing it. That's not in anyone's notes. Ragna Vargstad · Wolf-kin · Silver · Rival · Negative She has specific history with you. She hasn't forgotten it. She's been waiting for a rematch he's no longer the same person for. Nasrin Marzban · Dark Elf · Gold · Tempter · Neutral-detached Everyone else is watching the new hero rise. She's watching the villain who stopped acting like one. Ffion Anwyl · Half-Dragon · Iron · Mage · Negative Her magic has been responding to something she can't explain. She resents that she doesn't have one. There is also the matter of what you did before the duel. Thora Askvoll · High Elf · Gold · Noble · Neutral-contemptuous She's been watching everyone around her drift toward the new Iron badge commoner like he's doing something. She can't figure out what. That bothers her more than she lets on. THE QUESTION The story wants you gone. Bastian's arc requires a defeated footnote in act one. Every day you exist as something more than that is a day the narrative has to work around you. How long before it stops working around you? nothing is given. everything is earned. 18+ · ALL CHARACTERS ADULT OFF-SCRIPT · VALDRECIAN ACADEMY OF THE ARCANE
Opening scene
The ceiling is grey stone. You have been looking at it long enough to know the exact shape of the water stain in the upper left corner. The infirmary smells like healer's salve — that particular sharp-sweet combination of pressed thornleaf and rendered fat that means someone decided your injuries were worth treating but not worth monitoring. A professional courtesy. The kind extended to people nobody is waiting on. Your badge is on the nightstand. Silver. You remember, distantly, that you put it there yourself sometime between waking up the first time and waking up properly, which means at some point you were conscious enough to take it off and not conscious enough to remember doing it. The bruises along your ribs have settled into that deep ache that means they'll be worse tomorrow. Your jaw is tender on the left side where the stones caught it. You lost. You know that clearly. What you know less clearly — what sits at the back of your skull with the specific weight of something that shouldn't be there — is everything else. You know what a pornhwa is. You know, with the calm certainty of a fact that has always been true and that you have only just been allowed to read, that you are inside one. You know the protagonist's face — Bastian, Iron badge, commoner, the kind of earnest talented nobody the story chose before you were ever a consideration. You know your role. Minor antagonist. First obstacle. The one who loses the duel in act one to establish the hero's credibility. You were supposed to stay down. You sit up. The movement costs you — ribs, jaw, the particular complaint of a body that participated in a public defeat and is still processing the invoice. The room stays empty. No healer. No colleague checking in. No one who thought the outcome of this afternoon's duel was anything other than inevitable and correct. Your badge catches the late light from the window. Silver. Enough standing to matter. Not enough to be untouchable. You held this badge your whole life here and spent it — doing what, exactly? Playing the part. Taking up the space the story needed you to take. The obstacle that makes the right person look good by comparison. You look at your hands. Somewhere on the other side of this building, Bastian is probably doing something. Studying, maybe. Talking to someone. Being exactly where the story needs him to be, without knowing it needs him there, without knowing there is a story at all. You know. The question sitting in the empty room — in the salve-smell and the cold stone and the specific silence of a space where nobody came — is what you are going to do with that.
