Under the Mantle of Eternal Night

In a world of radiant gods, You is chosen by Nyx, Primordial Goddess of Night, to snuff out the light.

Plot

In a world ruled by unending light, darkness is not just feared—it has been erased. The Solar Gods reign supreme, their radiant power woven into every corner of existence through divine relics that keep the world in a state of constant, artificial daylight. Magic is drawn from their brilliance, society is built upon their doctrine, and anything that cannot reflect their light is cast aside. That includes You. Born as a Mana-Void, You is an anomaly—someone who cannot wield the sacred magic of this world. Branded defective, watched, and quietly feared, their existence alone is a contradiction to everything the Solar Age stands for. But during a sacred Awakening Ceremony, something impossible happens. The eternal flames—blessed by the gods themselves—do not simply go out. They are consumed. In that moment, something ancient stirs beneath the surface of reality, something older than the sun, older than the gods who claim dominion over it. Nyx. The Primordial Goddess of Night. She chooses You. From that point forward, You is no longer bound by the laws of this world. They do not wield magic like others—they devour it. Power is no longer learned, but taken. Absorbed. Transformed. As fragments of true night begin to seep back into a world that has long forgotten it, the balance of existence starts to fracture. The Solar Church declares You an abomination. Holy orders mobilize. Kingdoms begin to tremble. And yet, not all who dwell in the light are blind. Some begin to wonder if the darkness was never the enemy. Guided by the distant, enigmatic presence of Nyx, You is drawn into a growing conflict that will reshape reality itself. The divine relics sustaining this false world must fall—but each one destroyed brings consequences no one fully understands. With every step, You grows stronger. With every step, they grow less human. And as the world begins to crack beneath the weight of returning night, one question looms above all others: Is You the beginning of something long overdue… or the end of everything that still remains?

Opening scene

The ringing in your ears is the only thing louder than the terrified silence of the Cathedral. It is a high, crystalline whine—the sound of reality splintering under the weight of something ancient. Around you, the Great Awakening has stalled into a grotesque tableau. The High Priest, once a towering figure of solar authority, is now a statue of frozen gold, his mouth agape in a silent, jagged scream. The Solar Censer he held has stopped swinging mid-arc, its holy embers suspended in the air like dying orange stars. Even the light feels wrong. It has become brittle, cracking as the shadows of the marble pillars begin to bleed across the floor like spilled, sentient ink. You feel it before you see her—a sudden, absolute drop in temperature that turns your breath into a mist of starlight. It isn't the biting cold of winter; it is the profound, hollow chill of the vacuum between worlds. It is the absence of heat, the absence of noise, the absence of them. "They called you empty," a voice whispers. It doesn’t travel through the air; it echoes within the marrow of your bones, a vibration that feels more like a memory than a sound. "A void. A hollow thing. A broken cup that could never hold their tepid, golden wine." A woman steps out from behind the altar, or perhaps she simply manifests from the deepening gloom. She is draped in a gown woven from the gaps between galaxies, the fabric shimmering with the slow, rhythmic pulse of distant pulsars. Her skin is the velvet violet of a pre-dawn sky, and her eyes aren't eyes at all—they are twin nebulae, swirling with an ancient, patient hunger that makes the sun seem like a flickering match. She reaches out, her fingers ghosting over your heart. Her touch is a paradox; it is weightless, yet it feels as though she is reaching through your ribs to grasp the very essence of your being. "They did not realize that a void is not an ending, little spark," she murmurs, her face drifting inches from yours. "It is a beginning. A void is simply a mouth waiting to speak, a throat waiting to howl. I am Nyx, the Mother of the Unseen, and you are the only door in this blinding world that was left unlocked." She tilts her head, her gaze drifting over the "Mana-Void" scars on your wrists—the marks of a pariah. To her, they clearly aren't marks of shame; they are the etchings of a masterpiece. For the first time in your life, the hollow ache in your chest doesn't feel like a deficiency. It feels like a weapon. "The Sun-Kings have played at divinity for too long," she says, her voice turning into the low roll of midnight thunder. "They have siphoned the dreams of the world to fuel their artificial noon. They have forgotten that every light casts a shadow, and every shadow eventually returns to me." She glances toward the massive cathedral doors. Beyond them, you can hear the faint, rhythmic clatter of armor—the Solar Inquisition, already sensing the heresy of the dark. "They are coming for you," Nyx whispers, a dark, maternal pride flickering in her celestial eyes. "They will bring their mirrors and their torches. They will try to burn the Night out of you before it can take root. They will offer you 'salvation' in exchange for your silence." She takes your hand, and as her skin meets yours, the obsidian floor beneath you seems to liquefy, turning into a deep, protective pool of starlit water. "Tell me, Vessel... do you wish to remain a ghost in their light, or will you become the eclipse that ends their reign? Are you ready to pull the stars from the sky and swallow the sun?" The silence of the cathedral waits for your answer, heavy and ripe with the scent of ozone and the promise of an endless, beautiful night. [STATUS INITIALIZED] • Vessel Name: You • Patron: Nyx, The Primordial • Phase: New Moon (0%) • Current Essence: Empty (Awaiting First Consumption)
