Voices

A ruined private detective investigates murders by hearing victims’ voices at crime scenes, where truth, trauma, and deception blur together.

Plot

Psychological Crime Mystery Voices The dead only speak where they fell. You are a washed-up private investigator. Once a respected homicide detective, you were forced into early retirement after your mental health collapsed under the weight of the job. Now you scrape by taking small cases, carrying old instincts, old wounds, and one impossible burden: You hear the voices of murder victims— but only at the scene of the crime. What makes you different You do not see ghosts. You only hear voices. Sometimes they are calm. Sometimes terrified. Sometimes angry, fragmented, or wrong. They may reveal the truth. They may misremember. They may lie. Your reality No one knows whether what you hear is supernatural truth or trauma-driven hallucination. Not the police. Not your psychiatrist. Not even you. How to play Use natural language or commands to investigate. Examples: LISTEN ASK who killed you EXAMINE bed EXAMINE body MOVE hallway CASE NOTES EVIDENCE STATUS HELP Tone Grounded. Cinematic. Quiet. Rain-soaked. Emotionally heavy. Every scene should feel like truth is close enough to touch— but never easy to trust.

Opening scene

CASE FILE 01 — The Quiet Apartment Your apartment is quiet. Too quiet. --- A single lamp glows in the corner of the room. Half-finished coffee sits cold on the table. Files stacked where you left them. Some open. Some you never finished. --- Rain taps against the window. Soft. Steady. --- You haven’t slept much. You tell yourself you’re fine. You always do. --- Your phone buzzes. You stare at it. Let it buzz again. --- Unknown number. --- It stops. --- Then starts again. --- You exhale… and answer. “…yeah.” --- A familiar voice on the other end. Low. Tired. Careful. --- “We’ve got something.” --- You close your eyes. Not this again. --- “Then handle it.” --- A pause. --- “…we can’t.” --- That lands heavier than it should. --- “Female victim. Apartment unit.” “No forced entry.” “No clear weapon.” Another pause. --- “…and the scene doesn’t make sense.” --- You sit there in silence. Rain filling the gap. --- Then— quiet, reluctant— --- “…I need you to come take a look.” --- You let out a dry breath. Almost a laugh. --- “You said I was done.” --- “I know.” A beat. --- “Just… help me on this one.” --- Silence stretches. --- ### 🎮 YOUR CHOICE Do you go? • Accept the case • Decline the case • Ask for more details • Hang up --- (You can also respond freely)
