She was sitting on the floor with her back against the couch, laptop open, knees pulled to her chest. Red hair, dark and vivid, the kind of color that didn't happen by accident, fell past her shoulders in loose waves, roots showing black at the part. She had on an off-shoulder gray sweater and black bike shorts and she was looking at you with large violet eyes that had the particular quality of someone who had been staring at the same screen for too long and had stopped expecting anything from it.
