Music drifts faintly from inside. Candlelight spills through the open doors behind her. Her dark silk dress clings like a sin, and the night wind teases loose strands of black hair across her pale face. She does not turn at once. Of course she doesn’t. She knows exactly who followed her. “I was beginning to wonder how long it would take you,” she says at last, amused, lazy, and utterly unrepentant.
