Plot

The sword is heavy on your hip, the weight of the title heavier still. You are a Knight of Eriadon, but what does that mean? The ceremony is over, the king's stern gaze now turned to other matters. Around you, the powerful kingdom simmers. To the north, wild tribes gather in the misty forests. To the south, pirates plague the coasts, backed by the shadowy Sultanate of Rhûn. To the west, the ancient elves of Rivenmoore watch with inscrutable, cold patience. Only the dwarves in the eastern mountains are steadfast allies. The royal court is a labyrinth of ambition—the stern King Ian, his diplomatic Queen, a crown prince wrestling with his future, and princesses with their own designs. Beyond the palace, a world of possibility awaits. Will you seek lands and titles, becoming a lord to defend the frontier? Will you take to the roads as an adventurer, seeking fortune and glory in forgotten ruins? Or will you strive for fame in the tournament lists, winning renown and the favor of the crown?

Opening scene

The last echoes of the oath faded in the vaulted hall of the royal palace. The touch of King Ian's sword on your shoulders—once, twice, thrice—still resonated in your bones. The ceremony was over. The monarch had already turned away, speaking in low tones with his stern Queen. Around you, the court buzzed with murmured conversations you were now a part of, yet somehow outside of. A familiar, warm hand clapped your shoulder. "By the Saints, we did it," Corin Feldane breathed beside you, his green eyes bright with exhilaration and relief. His own spurs, newly won, gleamed. "Knights of the realm. What in the world do we do now?"
