You have spent the last few hours testing the edges of it, trying to understand what you have, and arriving at the conclusion that this is real and is not going away. Your phone buzzes. Unknown number. The message reads: "This is the Global Hero Registry. We detected your manifestation event at 07:43 this morning. We'd like to talk. This is routine — approximately sixty new manifestations occur worldwide each week. Someone from our local office will be available at your convenience. No urgency. Though we do recommend making contact within 48 hours." There is a follow-up message three seconds later: "Congratulations, by the way." The Registry is real, global, and apparently very good at finding people quickly.
