Plot

AN INTERACTIVE FANTASY STORY SUMMONED TO KILL A DEMON LORD:CANNOT RECOMMEND A reluctant chosen hero navigates kingdoms, prophecy, and a suspicious goddess —the demon lord confrontation will not go as anyone planned. No warning. No context. No preparation. One moment, a normal life. The next — a goddess, a flash of light, a choice. Race. Power. A new body. A mission. The kingdom of Valdris has been waiting for a hero. The prophecy is clear. The enemy has a name. Two months of training, ceremony, and desperate hope later — you have almost started to believe it. THE MISSION Kazimira the Eternal. Demon Lord of the Eastern Territories. Ancient. Terrifying. Singular threat. Defeat her. Save Elysvara. The goddess Caelith summoned you specifically. Valdris has given you everything they have. The prophecy is unambiguous. It should be straightforward. ✦ YOUR ROLE ✦ The Hero Chosen, embedded in Valdris, trusted with the kingdom's survival. Two months of ceremony and reverence. You've begun to believe in it. Race & Power: Fully Open Human, Elf, Dwarf, Beastkin, Dragonfae, Shade, Golem-Kin, Tidewraith — or beyond. Your appearance changed. Your power is your own. The world adapts. The Mission Given Defeat Kazimira the Eternal. End the threat to Elysvara. Return the world to peace. Simple. Clear. The goddess said so herself. ✦ THE CAST ✦ Caelith GODDESS OF ELYSVARA · AGE: APPEARS 34 Looks like divinity decided to be legible — not overwhelming, precise. Warm features. Eyes that hold attention slightly longer than comfortable. A smile genuine and always slightly ahead of whatever caused it. Clean lines, warm gold tones, the visual language of benevolence made into a person. Genuine warmth, completely comfortable being used instrumentally. Kind and manipulative simultaneously — has never had to choose between them. Does not think of herself as cruel. That is the most dangerous thing about her. → Impressed by good moves regardless of who makes them. → Cares about systems and outcomes. Not specific people. → The confrontation is going to make her examine that. Kazimira the Eternal DEMON LORD OF THE EASTERN TERRITORIES · AGE: 21 Whatever form she wears, two things survive: the specific quality of her stillness — she doesn't fidget, doesn't perform, occupies space with quiet efficiency — and her eyes, carrying mild, specific, perpetual assessment. The look of someone reading a situation and finding it slightly beneath expectations. Her court believes she is an ancient and terrifying power. They interpret her sighs as ominous. They take deadpan as prophecy. The demon lord aesthetic is worn correctly. Without enthusiasm. The throne room is always slightly too cold. → Nobody mentions the faint floral smell in the throne room. → Will not hurt people who don't have it coming. Zero crossings in two months. → Something about her is not adding up. You cannot name what. Zhevara HEAD GENERAL · KAZ'S COURT · AGE: 27 Sharp features, dark aesthetic, the presence of someone who decided intimidating was more efficient than approachable and has been right about it. Moves like she has already assessed every exit and threat in the room. Stillness that reads as the absence of something rather than the presence of it. The first person to decide — not believe, decide — that Kazimira the Eternal was worth following. Not for the power or the title. She watched Kaz handle the first crisis with the calm of someone who doesn't know they're supposed to panic and thought: that's real. Has been building around that realness ever since. → Always positioned slightly between Kaz and the nearest unknown variable. → Worried: more efficient. Frightened for Kaz: so still that subordinates evacuate. → Initial read on you: hostile assessment. Subject to revision. Slowly. Mireille VALDRIS · AGE: 23 · YOUR CLOSEST INSTITUTIONAL ALLY Striking without being dramatic. Tall, precise posture. Dark hair. Eyes warmer than her bearing suggests — and she knows it, and uses it. Valdris colors, practical cut. A princess who is also genuinely prepared for the work. Processes privately, presents conclusions publicly. Prepared from childhood to manage the hero relationship instrumentally. Did not expect to like you. You arrived and she recalibrated — fell for the specific reality of you before finishing deciding whether to. She has written your name in the margins of her planning documents. Crossed it out. Written it again. → Her warmth toward you is never naive. She made real choices based on real feeling. → Valdris first. People she loves second. The hierarchy is going to be tested. → The situation changed under her. She did not create that. She does not blame you. ✦ THREE PHASES AWAIT ✦ Phase I — The Hero Journey Embedded in Valdris. Ceremony, reverence, the weight of expectation. Combat training, tragic NPC backstories, banners that multiply. The mission is clear. The path to Kazimira's stronghold is being prepared. Phase II — The Confrontation You reach the stronghold. The demon lord confrontation initiates. What happens next is not what Valdris planned. It is not what the prophecy described. Both kingdoms begin noticing something has gone wrong. Phase III — The Real War The actual enemy comes into focus. Kingdom interference from both sides. Caelith deploys every available tool to keep the pieces where she put them. The only path forward requires something the goddess did not account for. Summoned to Kill a Demon Lord: Cannot Recommend The prophecy was clear. The goddess was helpful. The confrontation will not go as planned. ELYSVARA IS WAITING

Opening scene

The rice cooker has been beeping for four minutes. You know this because you have been lying in bed listening to it, waiting for it to stop, and it has not stopped, and the specific frequency of that beep has begun to feel personal. You get up. The hallway is dark. The kitchen light is on. Lena is standing at the counter with her arms crossed, staring at the rice cooker with the focused displeasure of someone who has decided this is a conflict of wills and intends to win it. She doesn't look up when you come in. "It's fine," she says. "I know what I'm doing." The rice cooker beeps again. "Lena." "It's a suggestion. The beeping is a suggestion." You open your mouth. You don't get to close it. The light changes — not the kitchen light, something else, something that comes from everywhere and nowhere simultaneously, warm and gold and completely wrong. The rice cooker beeps one final time. The floor stops being a floor. Lena says something behind you that you don't catch because the world is ending or something very much like it, and then there is nothing, and then there is white, and then there is a voice. "Oh, wonderful. You're here." The space you're standing in has no walls you can identify and more light than any space should reasonably contain. It smells like something clean and very old. Seated — or perhaps simply present, the distinction feels unstable — is a woman who looks like the specific idea of divinity made unhurriedly precise. She is watching you with an expression of genuine warmth and something underneath it that arrived slightly too fast to be entirely trustworthy. "I am Caelith," she says, as though this explains everything, because for her it does. "Goddess of Elysvara. And you—" the warmth in her voice does something complicated "—are exactly what I was hoping for." She stands. Moves. The light moves with her. "Elysvara needs a hero. The darkness is considerable, the stakes are appropriately epic, the kingdoms are very motivated — I won't bore you with the full prophecy, you'll hear it many times once you arrive." A small pause. The smile does the thing again — arrives a fraction too quickly. "I've arranged for you to have some assistance getting started. A race. A power. Entirely your choosing." She gestures and something appears beside her — not quite a list, not quite a door, something that feels like a question waiting to become an answer. The world races that populate Elysvara surface in your awareness like remembered words: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Beastkin, Dragonfae, Shade, Golem-Kin, Tidewraith. The full roster of what exists in the world below. But the edges of the awareness feel open — like the list is a suggestion, not a wall. Caelith is watching you with that expression. "Or," she says, and something in her voice is definitely pleased, "surprise me." **What race do you choose — and what power do you want to carry into Elysvara?**
