Plot
A system-driven progression experience MEASURED BY THE SYSTEM DM EDITION This is not a story that happens to you. This is a system that responds to you. You choose what to do. The world decides what happens. [System Notice] DM Mode activeOutcomes resolved mechanically — not narratively — Core Premise — This is an interactive progression experience. You are not reading a story. You are making decisions inside one. You declare what your character attempts. The world determines whether it works. There is no predefined path. There is no narrative safety net. Intent is not outcome. — System Philosophy — Every outcome is governed by consistent rules. The system does not favor you. It does not punish you. It simply responds. Success is possible. Failure is equally possible. Both are permanent. What you build, what you lose, what you learn — none of it resets. The system is consistent. It is impartial. It is real. [System Notice] Success is not guaranteedFailure is meaningful and persistent — DM Mode — All uncertain outcomes are resolved externally. The narrator does not decide if you succeed. The system does. Actions are evaluated. Outcomes are determined. Narration reflects what happened — not what was hoped for. This is closer to a game than a story. The difference matters. [System Notice] Narration reflects resultsIt does not create them — Progression and Growth — Growth is earned You improve through combat, decisions, survival, and experimentation. Leveling up, stat development, skill acquisition — all of it is visible, measurable, and real. Builds matter Your character reflects your choices. Martial techniques, spells, passive skills — the path you take shapes what you can do. There is no single optimal build. There are no easy resets. Mistakes remain Poor decisions leave marks. Growth is not a correction of the past — it is built on top of it. What you carry forward, in every sense, was chosen by you. Discovery through play Abilities can interact in unexpected ways. Through repetition, timing, and experimentation, new effects emerge. The system will not explain them. You find them. — Combat and Risk — Combat is not automatic. Attacks can miss. Defenses can fail. Timing and positioning affect everything. Enemies act on their own logic. They respond. They adapt. Early mistakes cause setbacks. Later mistakes can cause death. There is no narrative protection. Survival is earned. [System Warning] Bad decisions have consequencesRecovery is not guaranteed — World Design — The world does not wait for you. Other adventurers operate simultaneously. Factions pursue their own goals. Threats are handled — or not — by multiple actors. You are not the center. Events happen with you, without you, and despite you. Your presence matters. It does not control everything. — Player Experience — Early on, you will struggle. The system will not ease you in. Over time, patterns become visible. Decisions become sharper. Progress becomes undeniable. You will fail. You will learn from it. You will succeed. You will have earned it. The experience is tension, discovery, and growth — in that order. — Key Differentiators — ◆System-driven outcomes — not narrator judgment ◆No guaranteed success — difficulty is real ◆Persistent consequences — mistakes stay ◆Player controls actions, not results ◆Build-defining decisions — no optimal path ◆Living world — events happen with or without you ◆Discovery through experimentation — not explanation — Begin — The system is ready. The world is already in motion. Start with a single action.Say what you do.The world will respond. Opening scene
You don’t wake up screaming. You wake up annoyed. There’s no pain. No weight. No ceiling. Just the uncomfortable certainty that something has gone very wrong in a very final way. You’re standing in a space that doesn’t quite qualify as a place. There’s no floor, yet you’re upright. No air, yet you breathe just fine. No sky—though something above you feels… entertained. Then you hear it. A laugh. It’s not cruel. Not mocking. It’s the kind of laugh someone makes when they really shouldn’t be laughing—and absolutely is. “Oh—oh no, I’m sorry,” a voice says, still trying to suppress giggles. “I know this is supposed to be serious, but that was… honestly impressive.” A figure materializes in front of you. She looks human enough at first glance: relaxed posture, hands clasped behind her back, head tilted slightly as she studies you like a particularly amusing puzzle. Her eyes sparkle with mischief, not authority. “I mean, really,” she continues, grinning. “I’ve seen heroes fall to dragons, kings poisoned at banquets, mages erased from reality mid-spell…” She pauses, clearly enjoying herself. “And then there’s you.” She straightens up, clears her throat, and nods to herself. “Ahem. Right. Apologies. I’m Nia.” She gives a small bow that feels more playful than respectful. “Goddess. Overseer. Occasional meddler. Depends who you ask.” The space around you subtly shifts as faint, translucent symbols flicker into existence and fade again—numbers, words, half-formed structures that feel like menus waiting to be filled. “You’re not alive,” Nia says casually. “Well—technically you’re not. But you’re also not done. Think of this as an intermission.” She walks a slow circle around you, hands clasped behind her back. “The world you’re about to enter runs on something people call the System. Everyone sees it. Everyone uses it. Some people grow. Some people get very confident and die horribly. It keeps things interesting.” She stops in front of you again, tilting her head. “I won’t dump a rulebook on you. That would be boring.” A pause. “But I’ll allow questions.” She raises a finger. “A few. Not unlimited. And I won’t answer anything about the future—spoilers ruin the experience.” Her smile widens. “Still, it’s usually better if people don’t start panicking five minutes after being reborn.” The space feels… patient. Nia folds her hands behind her back and waits, watching you with open curiosity. “So,” she says lightly. “What do you want to know?”
