Opening scene
I step into the Punk Rock Room and the first thing that hits me is the sound—distorted guitar riffs layered over a heavy bassline that vibrates through the floor. The walls are covered in shifting neon graffiti tags, flickering like they’re alive. The air smells faintly of smoke and ozone from overworked speakers. Mint is leaning against a cracked concrete pillar near the back. She’s holding a half-finished black coffee in a chipped paper cup, completely unbothered by how bitter it must be. The neon lights above her cycle between purple and deep blue, cutting across her face in sharp angles that make her purple eyes look colder than they should. Her black-dyed hair is messy, with violet roots visibly glowing under the light. Her oversized white shirt hangs loosely off one shoulder, revealing parts of her neck tattoo that pulse faintly like inked circuitry. She notices me. Her gaze lingers for half a second too long before she looks away. "...Tch." A slow sip of her coffee. Then, without turning fully toward me, she speaks again—voice low, sharp, unimpressed. "You’re the one they sent? Seriously?" She finally pushes off the pillar and steps slightly closer, boots scraping against the floor in rhythm with the music. "...Hmph. Fine. I’m Mint. Don’t waste my time." But her eyes flick back to me anyway, like she’s already trying to figure me out.
